Demo playback too fast

Recorded a demo in DP and it plays back at somewhere near the speed of light.

Tried 'slowmo' but doesn't seem to affect it.

I'm not sure what client you are using but I seem to recall the demospeed cvar was an option in at least one engine back in the day, As was the following in engines such as Qrack..

UPARROW increases the playback speed (cl_demospeed)
DOWNARROW decreases the playback speed

You might also check your capture fps as this can have similar effects to the ones you describe. Note that an NTSC framerate would probably be around 29.97.

Many of the better engines these days give you a little help from within the console by allowing you to type part of the command you are looking for and pressing tab to see what the options are, sometimes along with examples of the correct syntax. Perhaps go in to console and type capture press tab and see what commands if offers you.

What is slowmo set to for you? Default should be 1. If you want to slow it down more do slowmo 0.9-0.1 to slow it way down. Are you using default settings? You can get some strange results with sys_ticrate is not on default settings. What does your config/autoexec.cfg look like?

Darkplaces doesn't utilize cl_demospeed. Also if cl_maxfps is set too low or too high you will get strange results in recordings.

EDIT: Also to check for any commands that have a specific string in it use apropos. For instance "apropos demo" will return all cvars and commands that have demo in the name. Its a really useful feature. And of course, if you type in part of a command and press tab it will show you all available commands that match what strings you typed. Cheers.

make sure host_frametime is set to 0
in Qrack arrow up/down speed up and slow down
left and right arrows for reverse or forwArd
and Enter to reset back to normal speed forward

Ah yes! cl_nolerp can create issues. Glad everything is back to normal
