Water brushes?

I'm looking for how to actually make a block into water to swim through, I can't find any info on any guides about this, is there a decent guide that could explain how to do some of this basic stuff? I'm using Trenchbroom btw.

the brush with water-texture should cover the entire area that you want to be underwater

so if you want to make for example a pool,
the water-brush should fill up the entire pool

Yeah, I tried that, inistally I just made a thin surface (not thinking properly) and I just ended up falling through it, then the brush refused to re-compile it as a bigger sized brush when I made it tall enough to swim through. Can bsp be a bit funny with water?

make a brush...
give it a water texture...
done.

qbsp generally marks these brushes as solid if they're part of any brush entity, so make sure they're part of worldspawn.
