Thank you guys for all of your response behind my post here. But few vpn comparison sites I know which serve vpn like the following one.But all of you assured me that I don't need to use vpn anymore for online game.Link removed by Phenom "Who thinks he's perfect"
I edited this post because you were answered by multiple people then proceeded to post links to a broken site. Keep it up and you'll need a VPN to access this site. ~PhenomLast edited by Phenom; 11-23-2015, 04:47 AM. Reason: You asked if you needed a vpn, then when told no, you try and push vpn? are you for real?really new to gaming?

Well welcome to quakeone.com, and welcome to the gaming world!
If you're looking to get into gaming, I recommend that you download steam. Its like an online store for games, but it has a community hub with discussions, guides, reviews and more. If you do decide to get it, leme know and I'll send you a friend request. Friend request goes for anyone else who sees this and had steam
Here's a link for steam: Welcome to Steam

Erm, ok, I'll assume this is real.
A VPN, or virtual private network, is only required if you want to play games that only support LAN (local area network) mode over the internet against friends.
For such games, you would:
1) create a virtual LAN with your friends using VPN
2) Have someone start a local server game server (local meaning with your private, local IP address instead of your public internet address, most often an IP from the 192.168.0.0/24 net)
3) Have the others connect to the local address to that game server (via their virtual VPN adapter: the VPN software takes care of routing the "virtually local" packages through the internet).
There are very few games (mostly very old ones) to which this applies. Actually, for most modern games the opposite problem exists: they do not support LAN games anymore, and you NEED to be connected to the internet (and the games master servers or DRM servers) to play them.
To help you further, we would need to know which games you want to play "online".
EDIT: Since this is a Quake forum, I'll assume you want to play Quake: there is no general need to use a VPN to play Quake, you can connect to public internet servers with modern clients. If you want to run a private server on your computer (e.g., because you do not have a dedicated server with a public IP address) and want friends to connect to it over the internet, a VPN could be an option. But playing on public servers is fun. Try it!Last edited by dfsp_spirit; 11-17-2015, 04:16 AM.
