  • Problem with Ezquake

When playing I noticed that when I receive damage my game slowdowns, like a fps drop or sometihng like that, is very annoying and I donīt find a reason.

That's supposed to happen. It's part of the SVCSQCCGUI DMS (damage mobility system) that EZQuake uses for realism. You're all damaged so you can't move around very well. Just get better and it wont happen as much.

edit: FTEQW doesn't use the DMS.

fun fact: FTEQW = Forget The Ez Quake Way ...so it should be the most helpful of all to you.

But in that way? It look like I ran it a 5 frames, it runs horrible, very horrible. Also with FTE I have slow downloads, any help with that? Please.

Heads Up: I'm just pulling your leg out of boredom. I don't actually know why your EZQuake is messed up or why you are getting "slow downloads" with FTE. Maybe it's time to clean up your computer...optimize your registry and disks, and what not.

But hey, the bright side is, my reply was going to be:

"Yeah 5fps sounds about right. You must have been really damaged."

Sorry I have fun at your expense. I was really bored. I at least tried to be a little nice and give you a really good engine.

if you're getting slowdowns in ANY quake engine, you should go and download some real graphics drivers. other people are getting 400+ times your framerate.

failing that, http://triptohell.info/moodles/win32/fted3dqw.exe will use a rendering api that does normally receive drivers via windows update.

regarding damage specifically, when you take damage the screen is briefly tinted red, essentually doubling the amount of rendering needed. if you've got no real graphics drivers then slowdowns should be no surprise.
the v_damagecshift cvar can be set to 0, which will disable those tints.
you should still make sure that you get some real drivers though, so that you don't have issues like this with other games in future.

Well it looks like that the command works, now I donīt know why exquake started working like that, in FTEQuake I can run it fine and without problems.
