I just got back from BestBuy where I purachased Dynex DX-Wom2 optical 5 button mous. Of course I put it through the Quake approval test and so far this mouse is a piece of shit. It feels like it only has 4-5 different speeds at which I can turn at (e.g left to right & up, down)
I've tryed with and without the -dinit command in the command line and no change, I've tweaked my PS2 mouse refresh to 200khz, still shitty, I unhooked the PS2 adapter and its still the same shit eating feeling.
It sort of feels worse when I'm turning and I press a button, kind of like its flooding the mouse with to much informartion and its skipping a beat. But its not "jerky" movement its just like the sensitivity fluctuates at very irritating rates. Acceleration is not turned on in Windows XP and I have the mouse drivers installed.
Any suggestions besides "Buy a new mouse"?
I just replaced a $80 logitec mouse with this $15 mouse because the logitec was starting to double click when I only pressed the LMB one time. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Get a Razer gaming mouse or one of the high end logitech ones. They shall serve you well. But really just get any logitech mouse, they all work perfect for whatever you want.

I baught the cheapest optical mouse I could find at BestBuy $15.. and my old Expensive mouse STILL acts 100times better then this new mouse...
You get what you pay for I guess... The "expensive" mouse has had someone try to rip the cord from the mouse, swung by the cord onto a hard surface to try and break it and it still feels solid as all hell.
the only problem which I think I fixed is that it double-clicked on a single click.

dude,I have *always* used a 10dollar optical mouse. ALWAYS a Logitech. You dont need some fancy mouse with more buttons than Mouse1,Mouse2,and your Scrolling wheel. Why over complicate something ?
I'm using a Logitech M-BT98a

I thought it was -dinit but I'll try -dinput now
I made a recording of me messing around showing some flaws of this mouse just now if your intreated
It can be found here
And the mouse is still acting a bit shitty... -dinput did help alittle, now the mouse feels like its just not accurate at all

-dinput you mean right?
I was dumb and bought a cheap mouse $10 ... the cord was too short.
Then I went back to Staples and bought Yellow's recommended mouse ... a Logitech MX 330.
What a great mouse! And $20 too. It kicks ass and made air shafting a lot easier.
Make sure you tried -dinput spelled correctly.
