Mouse in ProQuake running expansion paks

    Hello all.

I am wondering if when using using proquake with the expansion map pack sets if you are able to set the mouse up to run like in ProQuake itself.

its just the regular side to side movements with no up or down.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

Yes, that should be the answer you are looking for.

I would like to use the mouse to look and aim anywhere I choose (horizontal, vertical, diagonal... anywhere). This type of aim I'm speaking of is new in proquake as compared to the standard quake without any modern enhancements.
That type of functionality is in the original Quake, but you'd have to Google for commands and I don't think that is user-friendly at all. The answer on how to keep mouse look always on is even worse.

Most experienced players know how to do many of the things the ProQuake Launcher does, but the command lines and other stuff really is inconvenient for non-experts. There is a player that has been playing for 8 years who says he always types +mlook in the console when he starts Quake, for instance and I know plenty of players who were never able to make their own Quake name who had played for years. Some people would argue they could if they wanted to, but I don't see why Quake has to be a major hassle to get setup.

Cumulatively all the stuff is very annoying and trying to help a friend get setup who is new to Quake without the ProQuake Launcher is painful as hell.

Its just not loading in the expansion paks, because It must be something to to with using the command line to execute the paks, rather than using the prolauncher.
    Try:

    c:\quake\glpro.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 32 -game rogue (mission pack 2)
    c:\quake\glpro.exe -width 1024 -height 768 -bpp 32 -game hipnotic (mission pack 1)

Those should work to start up the Mission Packs.

thanks for this awesome service and program to use quake. It sure beats setting up an old computer to do it... (which I was currently in progress for all sorts of classic games)
    Thanks!

The best is yet to come The ProQuake Launcher only does about 25% of what I want to see happen.

i'm at fault for not explaining too well... here goes:

In the expansion paks, I can only use the mouse to look and aim horizontally.
not good. I dont want to use the mouse to strafe either.

prolauncher added this awesome functionality to look and aim anywhere I please (or maybe it was available and I was ignorant). Its just not loading in the expansion paks, because It must be something to to with using the command line to execute the paks, rather than using the prolauncher.

    ok. hopefully I've explained it.

i think u either want to set sv_aim to 0.93 (that is aided aim, otherwise set to 1) or u want to use m_side to strafe with the mouse like i do (not really recommand tho) anyway in that case u need to set ur m_side to a value like 20 to make it work (instead of the default value of 0.022) and u may find this alternative strafe alias to come in handy as it lets u aim up and down while strafing with the mouse

    Code:
    alias +mystrafe "lookstrafe 1"
    alias -mystrafe "lookstrafe 0"
    bind "x" +mystrafe
where "x" is ur strafe button

I am loading it from the command line in xp:

"glpro -hipnotic -width 1440 -height 900 -bpp 32"
ProQuake should always be using precise aim in single player with sv_aim 1.

Have you tried setting sv_aim 1, which is pure human aim in single player.

If I know what you are trying to do, I could tell you for sure. Maybe I suck in figuring out what you want.

any way to load the expansions from the prolauncher? maybe this would solve the problem
Not yet. That sort of functionality won't be in the next one either, but probably in the release after that one there will be.

    thanks again!
No problem. If I'm not understanding, keep at it. I'll eventually figure out what you want, heheh

If I understand this correctly, you mean that you want to use the mouse but don't want it to look up or down?

If this is correct, just type -mlook in the console and you should be all set.

If this isn't what you mean, post back.
