New guy on the block, studying game design in college.
Deciding to pump quake into my Windows XP for the first time, it works like a charm and I've found that I remember much of it like it was yesterday.
Now I want to do the following, and I have no idea how.
1) NEVERMIND, I GOT IT WORKING.
2) Is GLQuake the best way to get the best graphics for quake, or are these other mods I read about in the site better?
3) If I wanted to play some online for fun (I need practice before I can get serious in multiplayer) what are the best clients to download?

Thanks!
Is there any way I can get the mission packs to work under ProQuake too?

For the authentic Quake look, don't use GLQuake, get GL ProQuake. ProQuake is identical in appearance to GLQuake, but is better in many hard to describe ways.
I'd recommend the ProQuake Launcher (http://www.quakeone.com/proquake; the ProQuake Launcher download includes ProQuake and security module too) because it takes all the pain out of getting setup (Quake Name Maker, Server Browser, command line settings, more ...)

If you want to play online with an improved graphics engine, the most popular are:

1. Qrack http://www.quakeone.com/qrack

2. JoeQuake

3. DarkPlaces
Going on download statistics, it looks the popularity goes it in this order:
1. ProQuake
2. Qrack
3. JoeQuake
4. DarkPlaces
And to just get up and playing, it is the easiest to use ProQuake.
