Is it necessary to update quake with the Id 1.06 patch, if you're going to be using proquake?
What about any of the other mods, like Darkplaces or Joe's?
thx

NO Id PATCHING...is the final answer
unless of course you're runing the dos version on I guess win98...
So all alternate exe's for quake(glpro, dark places etc.) need their own
current exec's and the original pak files from the game.
but if I'm off base...correct me.
thx for the help!

oh =)
I always had 1.06 in mind as last progs.dat changing patch and 1.08 as glquake patch.

You do not need the 1.06 patch for anything, the patch upgrades QUAKE.EXE -- the old DOS executable that no one has used in years.Originally posted by BONOGUN View PostIs it necessary to update quake with the Id 1.06 patch, if you're going to be using proquake?

Just install whatever engine, all Quake engines are based off the final ID source which was Quake 1.09.
So installing the 1.06 patch is absolutely pointless which is why the file is not hosted here anywhere.

actually...i'm wondering if you're right(no offen)
realized the latest version of vanilla q1 is 1.08
and you didnt point that out.
the reason i'm asking is that GLpro is running fine on top
of the version of the orignial cd. But, I havent tried to connect
to a multiplayer GLpro server yet, so that might be an issue.
the 1.08 folder/update just has a quake exe, just drop that into my
/quake dir?
