  • Tenchbroom and knave.wad compile problem

    Hey guys.
    I'm making a small sp level with the knave.wad and tried to compile it with hmap2. Never had any problems with the base.wad but when i compile something with the knave.wad i get this error:

    unable to open wad "gfx/base.wad"
    Could not find wad "gfx/base.wad" using -wadpath options or in the same directory as the map or it's parent directory, so there!
    loaded wad "D:/QuakeEditing/TexWads/Q.wad" (541 miptex found)
    I already tried to:
    - put the base.wad into the id1/gfx directoy
    - rename the knave.wad into base.wad
    put the base.wad into the same dir as the .map file and into the parent dir.

    Nothing helped, google is silent about this problem too and i neither found something about similar problems at func_msgbrd or the trenchbroom site.
    Does by chance anybody know what i am doing wrong?

        I've never had much issue with loading wads in Trenchbroom. It looks like you're still linked to the base.wad and not knave. Do the textures show up in the editor? Try re-linking all wads. You might save a backup of your map first in case it loses all texture references on all the brushes...

          Thanks, Dutch. That doesn't seem to be the Problem. I forgot to mention that i tried that too, sorry. Well, i'll try another editor. Maybe Trenchbroom get's jealous and starts to work with whatever i missed

            Did you try a different compiler? Try tyrutils compiler tools...never had any issues with those either.

              Uh... Nö, i didn't. I will do that tomorrow. I bet it will Work.

                        Lack of diligence due to boredom with trivial acts. In other words when you have to write boring and trivial things you aren't paying attention or you are trying to fly through it. Slow down, type with as much care as you put into the geometry of your maps. I know you solved your problem. My help is eternal.

                          Right!

                          And somehow i don't stop to get reminders of how fucking annoying one can be with such diligence. For example i have this little mod at moddb and a few people appear to it even like it - and want to play it with this epsilon stuff. Every 3rd post is a hard challenge in how to not repreatedly write "read the fucking readme, my friend" everytime. Either that "no i won't make it compatible with Epsilon, go play the SMC or AD, it's much better".
