    PCI Express and Proquake 3.50

hello, i have a Sapphire x1550 PCI Express video card. Proquake 3.50 runs with distorted graphics (cant even see the game). I can run Qrack though, but i want to run GLproquake 3.50. I thought GL 2.0 was backwards compatible. Anyone here have a pci express card with a working glpro 3.50. THanks

my sapphire radeon x1650 churns out 500+fps with Qrack, settings on high quality, and on classic 700+

    no problem running anything GL.

    my radeon 9200 blowed chunks

ProQuake 3.99 has 2 brightness systems.

It is highly recommended that you add -gamma x.xx to the command line or at least -gamma.

If you don't, you are using the slower brightness system (but more newbie friendly) so you get less fps at times.

FYI, I have an ATI x850 16-pipes unlocked (for those who care), and I had to use Qrack to get quake to work. The old glQuake stuff, like xQuake and others did not work at all. Just upload Qrack, it's a better client anyways!

You should feel defensive. You cluttered up the thread with nonsense.

Direct3D has been used by nearly every Windows game made in the last 6 or 7 years. This is common knowledge; MH pointed this out as well. It's no secret.

Instead, when this is pointed out you do several posts of nonsense and out-of-date information? WTF? And then when I critique what you said, you start with the lame and boring ad hominem attacks (admin, yada, yada, harassment, <insert broken record gigantor post here>).

Why should anyone bother to talk to you?

I can say I am beginning to see what perhaps some others see in you.

How so? All your arguments fell flat. I provided straight proof from an respectable and acknowledged source.

This is nothing personal, the facts on GL stand as previously proved.

Well, my point was you don't know what you are talking about.

Quake, according to the whole point of this original discussion, IS from that time period, therefore all this information is relevant of how Quake runs within a GL environment.

As for the other newer games, the list is obviously more than 6, most prominent of those games have many sequels. And this 2nd point was a deviation from the original discussion and of lesser importance.

Point is, GL is very widespred.
