I have QNM from years ago and it has worked fine until i switched to vista64bit a while back. Now it fails to run i forget the exact error message. It wont work in compatibility mode either. Im guessing it just doesnt work on 64BIT OS.
Is there any other Quake Name Making type of programs out there? Or does anyone have a list of the special characters and what they translate too so i can manually create one like back in the golden days.
thanks,

And 2x apologies, Neil. Sorry.
I thought Rook was being accused of "stealing" features without crediting the author, but I completely misread the post and that wasn't what was going on at all (and even if that was the case, I had way overreacted and I knew it.)

I was in the process of trying to water down my reply because I WAY overreacted. I got really mad when I saw R00k being accused of "stealing" a feature that was already in the engine before he even touched it.Originally posted by Neil View PostAh.... wtf? i wasn't being ignorant. All I meant it as was that he has the ctrl + alt bronzing key features, so why not include the holding of alt + numberpad for special chars. No disrespect was meant if i didn't trust r00k's ability's i wouldn't of given him the source to it. On a side note, baker when have i ever seem to be an ass or anything of the sort to you or anyone for that matter. You have no excuse to know so little about Quake. That is just hurtful.
EDIT: My original post does seem rude now... SORRY Rook.
But it was too late because you saw it.
I apologize for the rudeness component. So ... SORRY Neil.Last edited by Baker; 01-11-2009, 02:02 PM.

in Qrack you can go to the console and type
name "
then you can hold down ctrl and a letter for the upper set of characters (silver)
or you can hold down the alt and a letter for the lower set of characters (bronze)
Just test it out. That's the fastest way to make a name in-game on the fly.
OTHERWISE you can go to the MULTIPLAYER / SETUP menu and look for NAMEMAKER on the left side

Ok tested on Vista , seems to work.
Try this click right on the qnm.exe select compatibility , then set compatibility mode to windows xp.

U can use this online one : http://hosted.planetquake.gamespy.co...oqnm_4_20.html
Or if u use Proquake 3.99 or Qrack 1.90 , they both have a namemaker build in.
I will check if the old QNM works on my Vista pc.
