How do you install any map pack in Quake?

i just downloaded the euroquake-maps. I'm having trouble putting it. Where do i put the map packs? Can someone tell me ASAP?

quake/id1/maps
all maps go in maps folder, no sub folders in maps

map folder is all powerful, if u displease map folder it will not let u play maps >:0

My ID1 folder doesn't have a map folder. What do I do?
