Help! Cant get Joequake to change screen size and Cant get custom maps to work! HELP

I am a total newb to doing this stuff.. I have been getting into Custom Doom 2 maps and now I wanna try Custom Quake maps but I have no idea how to do it! I was told to Download Joequake but I cant change the screen resoloution! it keeps telling me to do some command line thing but I got no idea what that is.. and whenever I drag the custom map folder into the Quake icon my computer locks up! I usually drag my Doom 2 custom maps into the Doom icon and it works fine.. please help!

cant find the file called autoexec.cfg im going to reinstall qrack incase i made mistake

I use windows XP I am trying out qrack im gonna add those lines to autoexec.cfg if I can find it.. I am a complete noob when it comes to this stuff lol

what OS are you running? case of windows: install qrack and add these lines to your autoexec.cfg

cl_web_download 1
cl_web_download_url "bigfoot.quake1.net/~jack/"

ps. make sure you have a folder called "maps" under ID1
if you don't.. just make one..
e.g. c:\quake\ID1\maps
