my +mlook doesn't seem to work properly :(

Really great site!

I've just recently reinstalled my old copy of Quake and was ready for some hot action in 1400x1050 resolution. I added +mlook to the autoexec.cfg file, but when i'm in the game it only lets me look up and down, not all around in any direction. Is there more that I need to add? Makes me a little confused.

Also, is there anywhere I can find all those old skins everybody was making? I actually made one called happy.pcx. and uploaded it to id's server. I don't have that file any more and was wondering if it might still be around in the ether.

im sure if you post your autoexec and your config file someone will be able to figure this out.

I don't know. I'll try typing that in to see. Here is what is happening:

When quake starts, I'm able to use the mouse to look to the left and to the right, and I'm able to use my left and right arrow keys to strafe. I'm also able to use mouse3 to mlook up and down (that's how it's set in the control list). If I lower the console and type +mlook, I'm then able to look up and down by simply pushing the mouse forward and backward, but I'm no longer able to look left and right with the mouse. It acts just like the left and right arrow keys and strafes. So from that point on I can only look in one direction. I have to lower the console and type -mlook and then everything is back to how it was. Autoexec.cfg doesn't seem to work with qrack. I guess that's normal?

Anyway, SURELY there must be a way to be able to use the mouse to look around in ALL directions. It appears as though the player in the demos is doing that.

in the console type m_yaw and m_pitch, they should be at .022, i think thats the default. maybe your yaw is out of whack

...or just delete the .cfg files so quake makes new ones and restart from there ;}

did u play with your cfg folder at all ? dont make too many changes (that is if u dont know whet yer doin) =)
umm.. in console key +moveleft and key+moveright

when all else fails... RE-INSTALL !!!

I'll try that next, but something else has happened now. Now I can ONLY look up and down with the mouse. I can't turn from side to side at all, by keyboard or by mouse.

did u try +mlook in the console? it may be a temp fix, till some1 more experienced than myself provides a more suitable remedy...
