I can only play the first levels

Hi all

I'm new here but have been playing quake since 96.

After dusting off my quake one disc i installed it onto my pc. But it does not want to run on Vista.

So i down loaded furquake and used the PAK0.PAK form the original to pay the game.

The furquake runs perfectly. BUT once i have the first ruin and want to play the second part i get the message that i have to register with IDGAMES to play the other 3 stages.

Is there a way to get round this? Something i can use from my origial game. Or is there a way to get my original game to run?

I can play the origial through dosbox but it's really slow, has no sound and i cant get the mouse to work right.

Thanks Rev and the_ f0qer. You guys are legends! I've copied in PAK1.PAK from the disc. Now it works spot on

can you open the disc at all? if so all u need from it is the PAK1.PAK and put that in your id1 folder. or you can do a forum search for pak1.pak for further help. the "search forums" link is near the top-right side of the page.

check the thread that says "pak files"
