Can't Install Quake on Windows 7

I was excited to get my q1 disk in the mail from ebay yesterday. I got ready to play this AM, went to install and it says version not available for install since its not 64 bit, please use 64 bit version of the game? I'm no tech master and haven't played the game in forever so if anyone could help me get this installed by telling me what to do or d/l I would greatly appreciate it. thank you!

    Do these in Windows.

Pop in the CD and browse to it.

Open the QUAKESW folder. What do you see?
Open the IDSTUFF folder. What do you see?

I got the DoS box and followed the instructions but the only file I get back in Windows in C:Quake

    is
    QSW101

also it says I am using a shareware version but I'm not

mhquake: Installing Quake using DOS Box

This is for shareware Quake so there will be slight differences for the full version, but it should be easy enough to figure out. Unfortunately I lost my old DOS Quake CD a LONG time ago so I can't document the process, but follow it as far as you can and if you have any questions be sure to ask!

Use DOSBOX to run the setup from the cd and install to c:\Quake.

    Then delete opengl32.dll from c:\quake\

    Install ProQuake for opengl,

    or

    DirectQ for directx.

    or

If you have a GOOD computer, download DARKPLACES.

    Done.

    enjoy!

I don't know how to get the original installer to work on 64bit, but here is how you can play Quake on modern systems:
    1. Create a Quake directory somewhere
    2. install one of the modern engines linked here at Quakeone.com (see bar on the right side of the website, below servers/threads/polls) into that directory
    3. copy the file pak0.pak from your Quake CDROM into quake/id1/

    Hope that helps.
