From another thread I downloaded the Kothic skybox zip and unzipped them into the main ID1 folder in a folder I created called "env" as was posted. I can't get the skyboxes to load in Darkplaces. I then noticed the files in the "env" folder had the .pk3 extensions. I opened several of the .pk3 files and extracted the 6 tga files into the "env" folder and deleted the first ones leaving only the 6 tga files for two seperate skyboxes, yet the skyboxes will not load. I'm using the following console command in Darkplaces:
loadsky olos
loadsky dragonfire
Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I'm following the instructions from another thread here on the forum.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Mancubus,
Do we have 2 people with the same name here in this forum ?
Its already answered in your thread: start reading here
The only alternative way to "map".ent files is binding a key to a specific skybox.
I described it above (post #3)
Kind Regards,
Seven

Hi, guys!
Thanks for the info, that's really cool! One question - is there a (simple) way to automatically load given skybox on given levels?

Any 512x512 .tga skybox set will work.
Quake 3 Arena skybox collection by Various (q3sky) - ..::LvL - Quake 3 (Q3A) Custom Maps
(In fact the skyboxes don't have even be 512x512 to work with DarkPlaces.)

Don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but it is still on my topic I think? Where can I find some more skyboxes for DP other than the Kothic?
Regards,
Jeff

Hey guys,
Baker, I had them installed correctly, thanks, but it was Seven's underscore after the skybox name that did the trick!
Thanks to both of you for your time!!
THis place is a godsend for newbs like me LOL !

Hello gdiddy62,
you did everything right.
In DarkPlaces the skyboxes must be put into this subfolder:
quake/id1/env
Remember that you cannot put a .pk3 into that "env" folder.
The 6 skybox files must be placed there (just as you did it).
Now, the only small thing you did wrong is the console command:
You used:
loadsky dragonfire
But the correct command is:
loadsky dragonfire_
Because the "_" is part of the texture name in the Kothic skybox pack.
Alternatively you can of course delete the "_" in all texture you want to use.
Then your console command has also no "_".
Have fun with this great pack
Kind Regards,
Seven

Just a guess ... put in the quake/id1/gfx/env folder or quake/<gamedir>/gfx/env folder.
