Dark Places problem console and text suddenly very dark
Hrm I don't know what happened here, the HUD, Console and all Text suddenly became very dark. I didn't put in any mods which messed with it (I think). Is there a way to adjust the brightness of that stuff? The other parts of the game seem fine.Tags: None

Hrm I can tolerate it the few parts it's dips down to 20-30 fps, usually not anywhere critical. I average 75 FPS or so, so that's more than playable imo. Besides it took me ages to get it setup where it looked good to me and I don't want to go through that again

Looking at your hardware and looking at your fps makes me wonder...
This is not usual.
You really must have an insane config.
My hardware is worse and I have better fps, while using the things, that makes DarkPlaces unique. You should really go through your config and search for the setting that causes this...

Well that's because of all the eye candy he uses. RTL does the rest...Originally posted by R00k View PostBased on your 20fps , maybe you should use another client.

I only get 20 FPS during certain stuff, usually it's 60 or more. And that's something with the engine, I get the same FPS with no mods, just stock quake. I have a beefy machine too. C2D 3.8ghz, GTX580 3GB, 8GB Corsair 1066 DDR2... I run most modern games maxxed out no problem.

Seven: ups, I thought I extracted that to a different folder, my bad *slaps head*. I'll try the build you mentioned.

Hello Roy Batty,
I had the same experience when using the newer DarkPlaces builds.
These builds have a much darker text color.
I switched back to 3rd february 2011 build due to various reasons.
I see that you use a build from 29th july 2011, so you seem to ba a autobuild fan.
If you do this (always use newest autobuilds), you must not complain about something like this.
These are just screenshots of the ongoing development.
And some builds might bring issues, which are gone the next day !
So, please be careful with autobuilds.
Kind regards,
Seven

Ah well if you brightened the whole image instead of just a individual part - your brightness ingame vs console is still very different.
There's no command I know of which will brighten the console only. So I'd try and make the console and game similar brightness and then from there up the monitor.
Ent and models wouldn't touch anything for your brightness.
Actually check your graphic card settings. Is this the only game you are getting this issue in?

Well I edited the brightness of the pics a bit like suggested elsewhere so they could be seen better. =]
the rest was about the same brightness 2 days ago... I don't know what changed? All I did was add the new power up stuff and Seven's .ent files.

visually it looks fine to me? Your game however is INSANELY bright.
I'd maybe go for darkening the brightness of the game, then use your monitor settings to brighten it up.

Ok, here's some screen shots.
I also tried with a fresh config and autoexec and it was so dark I couldn't even see the menu options to change anything O_o

I also tried with a stock version is a seperate folder (no mods), also with fresh config and autoexec and it's the same.

Back up your config.cfg and autoexec.cfg to a different folder. Then boot the game up again to see if the issue is still present; it could be a setting in your config files.
