Hello,

One of the most important commands in DP is the "apropos" command in my opinion.
It is the standard search command in the console and allows to search for fragments (little bit like a wildcard).
I always use it to quickly find cvars.

Also be sure to visit the DPwiki (or its backup on Chips homepage) for a list of cvars including their descriptions.
You can use the search button to find the needed cvar even quicker there.

just checked, and that one isnt in darkplaces. however you can set how many messages to show on-screen with con_notify.
set it to 0 and you wont get any messages when picking up stuff and such

Its con_notifylines rather than cl_
If you're on a QuakeWorld server, you can use 'setinfo msg 3' and then you'll only get chat.

dun think darkplaces supports this option.

isnt in the list of cvars of darkplaces and when i just tested by entering 'cl_n' in console
and then pressing tab to show available cvars that start with this it doesnt show that one in the list

EDIT: also just tried using the option and darkplaces says its not a known command

I'm not sure about DarkPlaces but I often use con_notifylines 0 when playing at Shmack using Proquake to just mute all the comments. Hope it works for you

you can try this one, which i found in darkplacs cvar list:
scr_centertime is "2" ["2"] how long centerprint messages show

try setting it to 0 and see if that works perhaps?
or try to set it to 0.1 or something like it perhaps if 0 doesnt work
