big noob here got some questions?

ok sick of all these new games coming out so i decided to head back to the old school stuff. but its been so long i have no clue where to even start with this stuff?

i got a old copy of quake v1.09 or whatever it says when it starts up.

now are there updates for it? what should i even download to begin?

of course i got a machine way beyond quake requirements

athlon 64 blah blah blah blah anyway

just curious what i should download so i can start playing online and stuff again

i also have a 600mhz 200 mb ram old computer that i would like to possibly set up a server for some kinda gameplay mode. either Team fortress possibly or CTF or something. the box is just sitting around wasting space.

anyone can help me out i'd be happy just cause there are so many different verisons of this and that and this and that, and i havent been on the quake scene in forever.

    xfire : blazt4me

thx in adv. anyone can help me out

Sajt is refering to the compression of the zip file you sent. The file inside is 6B but the compression actually made it 2133% bigger to 128B. You got owned by Winzip.

To some programmers, compression makes perfect sense but I'm still 50/50 on it

Hahaha. Cool, I'll have to try. It sure beats typing +mlook everytime I get into a online match.

Here's a zip file I made with an autoexec.cfg file in it which does mouselook for you.
EDIT: extract the autoexec.cfg file to your quake/id1 folder.

Thank you! Definitely they need to. I like using just the keyboard but it gets annoying for me to use the Delete and Page Down keys to look while shooting.

+mlook <-- type into console or add to c:\quake\id1\autoexec.cfg (just a text file, create it if necessary).

ProQuake doesn't have the mouse on/off in Options --- which is where it should be! -- like JoeQuake 0.15 does. QRack has +mlook on by default and in DarkPlaces it is also in Options.

Someday that needs to get into ProQuake (added to wishlist). :d

Just out of curiousity. Is there a way to have mouse look on GL ProQuake? Or do I have to use a different engine?

Yeah, that's a common problem. Click the above image/link and you'll be taken to the Guide topic on how to kill that annoying message. It's easy.

I am getting a glide2x.dll error or something when I start up qrack. It's something about glide2x missing. Any ideas?
