  • Compiling maps on Mac OS X Catalina

So I'm very new to mapping, but I've managed to get trenchbroom setup on my macbook and have been having a lot of fun messing around on there.
However I can't seem to work out how to compile my maps. Seen some people suggest using ToeTag but either I'm too dumb to get it working or it's just not supported by os x 10.15.1.
Can anyone give me a step by step on how I can compile maps?

    Hi Jam373
I don't use trenchbroom myself but I believe you ormally use a couple of external tools to compile the finished map files. Dumptruck, a member here, has put a lot of time and affort in to producing a few helpful tutorials on https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...WbgBAEt5xf74aE which might point you in the right direction.

    Hope this helps

    Kind regards
    Monty

Hey Monty, thanks for the link, but I've already watched those and from what I can tell his tutorials are only for windows. Trenchbroom works on mac, but the compiler he uses doesn't (Necros’ Compiling GUI) and the only mac-friendly alternative that I found was ToeTag which I think is no longer supported for OS X Catalina.

        Hi Jam373,
I've not done any map building on a Mac but I wonder if the linux versions of EricW's compile tools might help you? Also, have you tried tyrutils ( http://ericwa.github.io/tyrutils-ericw ) ?

        Hope this might help

        Kind regards

Get the source code for the compilers and recompile them on your Mac with gcc?

Thanks Monty and MadGypsy for the suggestions, will definitely use EricW tools, and will look into recompiling the source code. However I think I found an easier fix. Turns out TrenchBroom has its own compiler, duhh! Someone on discord has given me their setup for how to use the trenchbroom compiler using EricW's tools.
