    as a lot of you will most likely remember, not to long ago bloodshot posted some screenshots of an SSG-model he made in the RiftQuake thread:

    i myself absolutely loved the model, and i quickly sent bloodshot a PM asking if he was willing to share the model
    and allow me UV-map and texture it and animate it for use as a replacement SSG for use in darkplaces

    clip which shows off effect better
    0:00-0:22 hud SSG without normals
    0:22-0:45 hud SSG with normals
    0:45-1:09 ground SSG without normals
    1:09-1:33 ground SSG with normals

    2014-09-04 v1.21- made stock look bit more gritty and added scratches to it
    2014-09-03 v1.2- added normal-maps to the model which really make the reflect pop and look more real!
    2014-08-29 v1.11- also added reflect and gloss to the pickup version of the weapon
    2014-08-29 v1.1- added reflect-shader to the barrels, and added gloss-maps

    weapon is compatible with the Q3quad effect from seven's SMC (click here for pic)


    model by bloodshot. UV-mapping, textures, shaders and animations were all done by me

    added a bit of a grittyness overlay and an overlay with scratches over the handle

    .

    above screenshot is much brighter then normal gameplay btw...
    below screenshot is how in-game actually looks with normal lighting

    Is this looking slick or what?? Nice job!! Now that you are dumping all of these features to make the textures stand out, I notice one thing though: the wood handle looks a little too clean compared to the ruggedness of the barrels and barrel guards. Just an idea, what if you threw a little dirt on it or something?

    you guys, i have learned to do a new majiks!
    i learned how to create normal-maps using gimp

    after learning how to make normals, i for fun tried creating ones for the SSG,
    and you all seriously have to see the results!



    looks awesome, not? but you cant really see such an effect in pictures,
    you really have to see it in action to truely see how great it looks

    Great.

    I remember seeing this SSG back when Bloodshot posted a screenshot for it and the textures you added to it looks great! This is officially my favorite weapon as of now. You did a great job bringing this model to life in the world of Quake.

    im still quite unexperienced myself as well and still have a loooot to learn.

    i was only able to animate thit shotgun cuz the animations are purely rotation and position movements of the entire model.
    i cant do any animation more complex then that


    also, about texturing models:
    google is your best friend if you need material-textures

    also, being able to bake AO-maps in blender and overlay them helps a lot

    even though that post i linked was from long ago the mod already looked awesome back then imo, and the new stuff looks even better

    .

    also in other news... i made a lil' update to the SSG!


    added reflect-shader to the barrels with a cube-map,
    and added a gloss-map which add a faint gloss to the model

    DOWNLOAD BLOODSHOT SSG WITH REFLECT


    EDIT: realized i only added the maps to hud-version! updated it so pickup also has gloss+reflect!

    btw first pic in that post shows perfectly just how weirdly wide and bulky the standard quake shotgun model really is
    Haha man I can't believe how long ago that was. The project sure has changed a lot since then. I forgot about how it all looked back then lol
