For those who found the grunt in the original skin pack too different from the original Id skin, here's something more true to it:

That's the sucky part of using hi-res textures on a lo-res model. I'll try my best to fix that.

    Nice

That reminds me... There is something with the Shambler that I forgot to mention. If you are facing him, there is a part on the right side of his head that does not blend very well. The left part of his head is fine. I compared them to show you what I mean:

Left side of his head (looks fine):

Right side of his head (looks bad):

It is a little bit distracting, because it doesn't have the same brightness or pattern at all. I know the texture is badly stretched here, so you can't really add detail, but it needs to at least have the same consistent color and brightness - and maybe rid it of those streaks (the lines).

I see a new release (original Quake skins) some time this weekend, fixing all the little bugs and adding the new grunt, knight and ogre. Also, lumas for the muzzle flashes.

Thanks. Here's a picture of the Ogre's nasty feet:

The bottom of his feet are not just dark, but black. Mission accomplished.

convert a copy of the texture to whatever format QME needs.. use that to locate your pixels.. overlay the original texture on top of that "template" and voila! you know what pixels to color black

for the record, i never used QME, i'm just trying to think of a way to work around the QME-does-not-load-TGAs-problem.. surely it's not ideal.. but if it works.. it works

edit: oh lolz.. LH beat me to it

You could temporarily convert the texture to the Quake palette to get it in QME.

fire up QME and just dot the areas in the perspective view with black, then you can see on the skin where u can blacken out. Somtimes it can be as simple as 8 pixels in a horizontal row.
