One thing I have noticed using that is footsteps randomly play and the metal ones never play. Know as to what could be causing that?

    Thank you.

you just gave me the link to my own mod
Did you read the readme.txt ?

In your screenshot the fire looked larger than LordHavocs sprite.
But now I know it isnt.

This shows again what a great artist you are ooppee.

It is a huge step forward for this model.
But still, for me it will always look like a monster which spend its
free time in WorldGym to impress young ladies...

But as stated before... its all a matter of taste.

    Nice work !

    Seven

PS: Can you tell me if you use a handmade torchflame sprite in your Quake ?
    It looks longer than dpmod´s.

holy bamph! I Only just tried this model and I am well impressed!

as stated earlier, it does make other monster models look poor by comparison, even alongside the great skins from Quake-reforged...

very insnspired by doom3 hellknight indeed, but surely the doom3 hellknight was inspired by id's own shambler? no theres a noodle baking concept...
In the end all ideas are circular as theres nothing new under the sun, but, I digress; THIS MONSTER IS AWESOME and we all want more...

    download it now!!!!

I know that whats going on behind the curtains @ QDF (Quake Done Free) is some amazing stuff, but lets face it... Who remembers the guy who boasted about Q10Y? I've forgotten his name, but not his vision.

Quake has a very bright future if it can be guided properly and not every tom, dick & hairy being able to throw bugs into a functioning plan and if there is to be a gathering of the elite modders, mappers coders & dreamers I'd like to see it handled in a sacred yet transparent manner.

Quake SP and even MP at points feels very silly to me. The monsters aren't very flexable, someone mentioned awkward weapon placement, and their isn't much rhyme or reason to a lot of things that go on on a mapping level, story level or even play level. These are all things which can be improved within Quake 1.06 SRC without the need to additives.

Its hard to properly pinpoint and see where Quake is headed as there are so many skilled people flooding in screenshots of their awesome effects that can benefit Quake... But wheres the head of this beast?

    *** UPDATE ***
I just gave this shambler model a spin and its quite nice! Excellent quality and it actually felt out of place compared to the other poor quality other monsters running around lol..

We need more models like this!
Until concrete results are achieved, there is every reason to be skeptical.

But the future is what we make, considering it is open source.

So then it becomes a question of whether or not you think the idea is worthy of pursuit.

Does the idea of a place that has not given up on the idea that Quake has a future make a difference?

My answer would be that in this case, it does. Still, like you the idea of tangible results matters greatly. At this point in time, there remains to be tangible results. And so I would point to the direction of momentum.

For the impatient, this is not a satisfactory indicator. At the same time, what if the eventual future was to be totally defined by events that have not yet occurred, but are inevitable. In that case, you have already "won" and are merely waiting for the victory to materialize.

I agree with the idea that most early Quake engine modders, mappers and QuakeC guys didn't "get it". This has resulted in an obsolete feel.

As a result, there is no current mindset that has bloomed into full fruition that has successfully emcompassed "it all".

And I see this radically changing in all perspectives.

This is hard to convey to most observers. But I am certainly not the only one that realizes this dramatic change. There is a new era of development cooperation. And whether or not someone realizes it, the results will be very real.

I usually stay quiet and don't comment about these kind of things, an outsider observer sees nothing to justify my statements.

I think the early guys (engine/quakeC modders/mappers) were out to take the open-ended SDK and make something cheap, easy and fun. As with any new toy, you end up doing silly sh!t first.
After the technology is dated and the newness wears off, the only use of the "sdk" is to throw it back onto the original platform, Quake. This really hasnt happened as most college kids playing & coding entry-level gamecode dont pick Quake as the "hey guys look what I made!" platform. They all want to mod nextgen stuff like doom3, halo3 etc. But on the gameplay level our Quake has as much going for it as anything on the market, maybe not as glossy but just as fun to play.
