    started a topic b_box´s pack (4 models)

    b_box´s pack (4 models)

    Hello,

as long as I can think I used the beautiful b_boxes skins from Quake Remodeling project.

But since some time I sight on Ruohis´s b_boxes (which Rygel used in his pack):
    - b_batt0 + b_batt1
    - b_rock0 + b_rock1

The only thing that kept me from using have been the way too small b_batt models.

Fortunately I learned the last days how to handle/edit md3´s.
Now I put some hours in tweaking them and want to share it with you:

    Thats what I did:
    - Rescaled the tiny b_batt models to come closer to the original sizes.
    - Added a luma texture to make the nuclear sign and the loading display shining
    - Removed the horrible gloss texture from b_batt1 which made it overbright
    - Adjusted the much too dark brightness for both skins to make them easier visible
    - The b_rock models are untouched, because they are perfect as they are

Those who know me already, know I cannot live without Screenshots:

Quake remodeling skins (with ID1 models):

Ruohis´s models with Rygels extra skins:

    My modified skins + models:

The beautiful luma texture for both models:

    Untouched b_rock skins + models:

    I hope you like it.

    Warm Regards,
    Seven

    I reuploaded it.

Before you use it, be sure to at least look into this thread.

It is the official successor to it.
(you will find both: animated and static versions there)

    Kind regards,
    Seven

Well it looks like the download link is down. Rapidshare deleted it. Seven if you don't have a premium account on rapidshare then simply use mine to prevent the files from getting deleted. This applies also to OoPpEe.

    a question for Seven:

hi, is this pack already made "obsolete" by your own shader animated ammo boxes + health packs? or do i need to get both?

just having started playing around with DP with all of these mods confuses me.

great job on all of your mods, Seven!

Thanks Seven, the scale looks much better in game with these items. I was always using Rygels skins for ammo/health boxes, i tried your suggestion, and found darkplaces-qrp-remodel-plus-plagues-pack.pk3 on my disc, extracted all the ammo/health skins and yes, they do look a lot more true to the originals. The only thing i miss is the bump mapping and luma on them. But i can see you are working on luma (you don't happen to have some bump mapping secretly hiding on your computer as well?), can't wait to see the results.

    Cheers from Africa.

    Hello osjclatchford,

this is the only monster replacement model, which exist till today (beside this interpretation).
It was released by Andrew Joll way back at Qexpo 2005.

There are 3 different versions flying around on the internet today:
    - the original by Andrew Joll, which is very bright and has little blood.
    - a modified with very dark blood and almost black mouth, hands and feet.
    - the one I use: It has a remade darker fur compared to Andrew´s and slightly more RED blood.

    I simply love it.

    Warm Regards,
    Seven

its a good feature isn't it!

I was using a demon skin (oggro's i think) and I added a luma skin for the eyes it looked good (as an effect) but its totally wrong as far as classic quake goes (I use Qr-f skins now anyway) so I got rid of it in the end.
But still, there's lots of little details that could look nice lit up but I've been wracking my brains trying to think what to do it on without wrecking the classic-quake feel. These b_boxes are a great example of what's an ideal canvas for luma though...

btw seven, off-topic but, what/who's shambler skin is that? It's sparked my interest...

    Hello again,

I just tested level E4M7, when I saw this scenery:

I like the "luma" idea very much. I guess I will add it to other things as well.
It brights up dark places, especially when you use DarkPlaces

osjclatchford, what is your PC configuration?
if you use linux, maybe you have Opengl deactivated!

geez 12 fps! I wish! sometimes (like on on e1m8 and wind tunnels) my fps drops to 8/9! ouch!
Best i can get on my rig is 22 but 12 to 14 is average for me...

ok, please don't all laugh at once...

and seven; new b-boxes = great stuff! agreed about the rocket ammo too, those models were one of the things that really wowed me when first using dp-mod.
Also, I'm actually going to try the medkits from qrp now, had no idea how much more faithfull they looked till I just saw your screenies...
