This is the place to search: here

Dont get confused by the million files.
Every beta and stable versions are stored here.
And only the latest nightly build (its called "autobuild" for DarkPlaces).

Scrolll down and get this one.

    By the way:
LordHavoc will most probably not read these posts.
He is very seldom activ in this forum.
Use the IRC channel "#darkplaces on irc.anynet.org"
Or mail him. But before you do it, be a little patient.
He is a busy man. Emails mean extra work.

    Best wishes,
    Seven

Hahaha lovely story (I do wonder why a half painted square of the picture would get SVN-commited )
I do know what SVN builds are, thing is...I don't really know where to find the betas?
Also, this was intended as a sort of bug report, so, really, I'm being patient
In the mean time, where do I get the beta you mentioned?

    Hello Bloodbat,

using the nightly builds is very dangerous !
It is nothing but a screenshot of the current work.

    Example:
Imagine someone is drawing/painting a big picture.
Today he draws the sky and the street, but got tired and went to sleep.
The picture with only sky and street will be saved as nightly build.

A guy called Bloodbat is watching this picture and asks himself:
What is this ? This is completely unfinished ! I dont like it.

Imagine, LordHavoc or his team is working until late midnight and goes to sleep.
In the middle of a major code change.

So, thats why LordHavoc gives us BETAs. These builds include at least some kind of finished changes.
So using the betas is a good idea.
But using the nightly builds is not.

Stable builds are rarely made, because the engine is continuesly under development.

As I stated a lot of times, I suggest the beta from 31st august 2010.
    Reason for this:
It has much better FPS compared to newer betas and includes big enhancements compared to latest "stable".

Be patient Bloodbat. I hope it will work again in the next beta.

    Kind Regards,
    Seven

The latest SVN (18-12-2010 21:03 Windows x64 version) breaks pretty water, at last on my machine :S
It works right with stable, I hope Lord Havoc is reading this, so they can fix it.
    The error message:
    Fragment shader compile log:
Fragment shader failed to compile with the following errors:
    Error: 35:396 : (Error#19 Redefinition Error: F
Error: Error(#373) 1 compilation errors. No code generated

    (Line offset for above warnings/errors:35)
GLSL Shader GLSL/Default.GLSL water failed! Some features may not work properly.

The video drivers: Catalyst 10.12a with a 5770 HD.

Good to know Seven! (it's actually a good thing that these effects change over a distance):
Was actually wondering, is it possible to have an effect occur as it gets closer, but starts to fade again when it gets really close to the player?

    Hello King,

    yes it is.
If you use "DP New Teleport" you will see it in the start map very nicely.
I guess it cannot be avoided, since LordHavoc only implemented a few Q3 shader variables (not all).
If one day all shader possibilities are available, there will be much to improve.
Then also our beloved "DP New Lava" will look better

    Seven

    Lol!
By the way- something I noticed, that solid color, reflections and translucency seem to get stronger or weaker when you move closer and further away from the surface, is this correct?

Thank you for your feedback King Hazza,

It seems the "Disco" Version is also good for other people.
I am glad to hear that.

    Regarding your shadow issue:
I really do believe in miracles. Now even more

Wow Seven that screenshot the water looks positively realistic-waterlike and positively disgusting as sewer water should look!
I think you've struck a perfect balance there- I'm about to install it now:

On another note- you're not going to believe this, but ever since I installed Nergal and Alfader's Reforged monsterpack (and had it replace my files) it seems to have sorted out my glitch about the shadows!
Don't ask- my setup is truly something quite ill- but thought you might get a laugh out of that!

Thank you for your feedback grave_digga.

Remember, that version is for our movie maker Disco Rockstar
You surely saw his great movie here

Disco needs crystal clear water to take his fantastic shots.
So this version should not be used for regular Single Player.
    Just as you mentioned.

    Kind Regards,
    Seven
