    HD trees for drake mod

    ever since i first played the 'something wicked this way comes' maps, i seriously hated those trees that were in those maps. they have terrible stretching all over and just look bad in general.

    so i ventured on a quest to find some nice-looking HD tree models to replace them, and after much searching i found some nice free tree models.
    i took those tree models, redid the UV-mapping on them cuz the UV-maps could use some fixing, scaled them to be the same size as the original trees and fixed up a nice hi-res texture for them

    the result:



    looks way better then the old ones, dun they?

    DOWNLOAD THE HD-TREES FOR DRAKE new updated version which includes the last tree too!


    for now they only have 1skin, but ill look into adding the other skins to the second tree soon

    .

    EDIT: updated link with new version which includes 3rd tree too, and added pic of it to the post

    you sure you didnt change anything else in the pk3? i just tried and they show up fine for me.
    what i think you are most likely seeing is perfectly normal. you are probably referring to this?

    if that is what you are talking about, that is perfectly normal.
    in the original quake render if a model is in a dark area the entire model is made darker, and not just part of the model.
    and like that tree just happens to be in a corner that is darker

    sorry i completely forgot about looking at the trees cuz i discovered
    'dust:an elysian tale' and been playing it all day cuz i absolutely loooove it <3

    just now suddenly think of that i told you id look at the trees for SoE,
    just when i was about to hop to bed. i promise ill look at them tomorrow

    hmm ill look at it more closely later iron.
    earlier i just took a quick look into pak files and opened trees in noesis.
    ill have a closer look at using these HD trees in SoE later

    Very soon I'll upload the HD textures from those Tronyn episodes. I've tried the HD trees in Soul of Evil indian summer, renamed from tree zer to tree2: some trees works, one is totally black, the other is the same old tree.

    it adds the archers and imps from hexen2, except for that theres nothing from hexen in the mod,
    and all the additional weapons are all futuristic except the wand.

    i absolutely love medieval stuffs and such, and i think all the medieval stuff the drake mod adds is really cool. its also totally neat that it adds some more lovecraftian enemies,
    like the nightgaunt and the gug, those are awesome. and the gug is cool too, even though he isnt from lovecraftian mythology he feels very lovecraftian


    i would love to remake the gug or nightgaunt in HD some time in the future when i have more experience in modelling <3
    right now i dun have much experience with modelling and can only do basic stuffs,
    but id love to get good enough at modelling so ill be able to make to remake those two enemies since they are pure epic and would be even more so in HD

    the only difference is that SoE has the zerstorer tree named 'tree2.mdl' instead of 'tree_zer.mdl'.
    so if you just open the pk3 with winrar or winzip or such and rename tree_zer.mdl to tree2.mdl itll work fine
    Some people doesn't love drake mod a lot because is "less quake" and "too hexen" but IMO is great and adds variety: quake's hero is a guy who travel through different dimensions to destroy the minion's of quake, so why all the world he visits should all be the same gritty and dark levels?

    oh yes yes that could be right, soul of evil uses drake too

    and the second tree is a tree which drake mod took over from zerstorer mod,
    so itll work for zerstorer too

    .

    sure gladly share these modified free models i found. they look so much better then the original trees (which were just fail)
