In this case, it's just free period so, I'm almost positive it doesn't meet KS requirements.

Also kickstarter has some super strict copyright rules. You couldn't even mention Quake, if you even got past the "fund my life" part.
I checked kickstarter rules and nothing about this project would disqualify it from consideration. I don't exactly call it a "fund my life" as it would be a community of developers like yourself (assuming you're interested) and others on this forum. The money isn't to fund their lives but to fund the project. The goal of kickstarter is to bring creative ideas to the public and to allow them to support such projects if they feel they merit investment. Which means we let the people decide its value. We can offer t-shirts, etc. as rewards, mentioned in credits of the game, and even a special edition of the game/engine that may have features or added content that the free version would not, etc. Just my two cents.

If someone can kickstart for $3K based on the premise of fucking NIN dumbed down into Chiptune's? Really?

I found fallacy, whether or not that makes a difference I don't know. I keep pouring myself a bowl of cheerio's and u keep pissing in it unfortunately

Getting the physics right has already been done really. The hard part is done sense we have such great engines like Qrack and DP. I'm certainly open to this idea! Could even remake a new single player experience with of course COOP! Gotta have that man!

I totally agree! But how exciting would it be??? So much has already been created when you think about it. Maybe we could even do a kickstarter campaign to help fund development and give t-shirts and stuff to backers! It would also get some social media attention!
    Wow. WOW. WOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Holy shit you're my hero of the day. This is the direction the discussion should be headed,at least imo. The wheel is free to be grabbed by anyone at any given time. I healthy multiplayer community we lack horribly, if you wanna be technical, we passed humane euthanasia looooooooong ago. Fuck that, I'm ready to sprinkle some voodoo and wake the decrepit or dying community that is Q1. With enough idea's tethered into one unified project , who knows. Sky's the limit brah.

kickstarter for development is good stuff
goodies for backers is even better stuff
social media attention? I don't think we're ready. Let me word it this way, I would be ashamed if some of the goons occupying our server's was to tarnish any first time experience. If the spotlight must go on us, let's atleast get caught with our pants on etc.

I can cover social media attention when the time is right (IDK when its right,we do the community through consensus)

I know for a fact any gaming magazine would run an article on this subject. Something that isn't attributed to Q1 multiplayer gaming is that this is where it all began.

Red Annihilation tournament, a fucking ferrari was a prize. Not just any prize, but Carmack's ferrari. How often do you hear about awesome shit like that happening in modern days? It's rare as fuck. Quake is the bastard forgotten child that's tired of being forgotten.

^ Read how DOTA 2 champions will get paid more than both World Series winners and Super Bowl winners.

Quake1 once garnered that precise, fuck that, it commanded that type of competition. I feel we have much to offer in terms of even if its the chance to play with a legend in first person shooter games.

    Who is Bob1255532?
    Who is WhizKid666 ?

Most gamer's can lay claim to being a gamer, but not many can lay claim to being a tried and true OG of first person shooters.
    I can even sloganize ,

"Come get your hard knocks with us, where it all began, Quake1."
"Think your hardcore? Think you got skills? Better think again!"

5 seconds or less devoted and I already feel some hype

a yup, piggy backing is what I'm refering to it as.

the free derivative and the original should mesh together as well.

much like Track Mania Nations + Track Mania was able to coexist on the same server

no, I said what I meant. If you remake quake specifically for DP engine/server you are basically going to end up with Xonotic. I'm sure there will be differences but I'd be willing to bet there will be plenty more similarities. It will be another bling-bling FPS that isn't as bling as marketed games.

instead of Seismic, what if you named it Wake.

ex: I left a trail of dead bodies in my wake.

or go Japanese and call it Happy Fun Smile Brown Shoot Game . Wait maybe we could even use the letters of quake for that.

    Quick User Amazing Kill Enemy

that's the name, brah... It says it all

oh wait, even better, name it Quakeone Quake 1.

Quake1, an Ivory Tower I wish every gamer would atleast visit once. At some points in time, players might stick around. It's really a nice place, we have our niche group of type players with different attitudes. We have a kiddy pool full of gaming sharks, time to upgrade?

Xonotic and Quake1 has ENTIRELY different physics in terms of movement gameplay.
I bet they even have an active multiplayer community, which is cool for them, not so cool for us.

Maybe you meant, what Xonotic is to Nexuiz ? That's a closer assessment

The other problem : Social Failures.

Fuck political correctness and fuck a krix or jbone, this ones for you two turds.

Preaching 'calm down its just a game' after you two bone heads antagonize someone is petty and childish. You two have yet to figure out acting out in Quake just because it's a game for you does not equate the same situation for others. Be respectful of others, simple premise. The other option is the iron fist of Quakeone.com

Lawless Quake servers have long plagued the players of Q1 multiplayer for quite some time now. I'm not innocent I've been a heckler shit talking maggot before, then again I also pissed my bed and ate goldfish cheddar crackers as a snack every day once upon a time. We grow up and mature, at least thats how its supposed to go down.

Quake isn't a license to retain immaturity clear into your 30's guys, fat chance you'll read this but HEY who know's, even I can hope you'll read this someday.
