  • Arenagate Q1 Remake (Dark Version)

Here is my Arenagate Dark remake preview
(This map is part of my Slipgate Arena mod project.)
Map is still wip, I am not satisfied with Mouth & tongue Brush/es (it is really hard to recreate it without curves)
Also I need to tweak lights & fog, align textures, and add more details to brushes (damaged wall floor, etc),
but basically this is the (darker) feel & design i was trying to get:

Yes, but i don't want to copy paste maps & textures from q3, i want to recreate it to have Q1 feel & look, and then i will port them back to Quake3 as a part of my mod.
So basically Q1 and Q3 version of this re-designed maps will be available
Im also working on q1/q3 weapons redesign

      p.s
best way to play vanilla quake3 maps directly in Quake1 is by using darkplaces, just copy PAK0.pk3 to mod dir and load up map (you will have to use -listen parameter), if you want complete items & weapons compatibility install Q3 compatibility pack(progs.dat) from moddb into darkplaces http://www.moddb.com/games/quake/dow...quake-iii-maps
This method does not require any map porting or compiling, and loads Vanilla Q3 and Q3Live maps, also i tested it with elite force. Works like a charm.
there are minor problems with jumppads

        Good work.

I would be tempted to make the tongue and any other curvy parts as models (md3).

I tried for years to make decent trees using brushes, and you can,
if you don't mind them being a bit low poly/chunky but in the end it's easier to model 'em.

Best of luck with your mod.
