Arcane Dimensions -HD overhaul-

over time several texture-packs for Arcane Dimensions maps have been made by myself, Icaro and BloodVengeance,
and just recently i made a couple models for AD and set up some things to work with AD,
like setting up jeank's HD skins for the hexen2 monsters and creating a g_shot for ruohis shotgun,

i felt that now the time has come to make a seperate thread specially for anything HD for Arcane Dimensions
HD textures, high-res skins, and hi-poly models all collected in one single thread

NOTE: these texture-packs do NOT include duplicate textures, meaning that you will need ALL texture-packs to have every single map in full HD.
if you play a map and find that not all textures are HD, make sure you have all previously-released texture-packs installed too.

i also updated the hexen2 monsters pack to include the red skull-wizard,
and i added a pic for Jeank's skins

Lovely initiative!

Please, be aware that my textures-packs were meant for AD 1.42.

AD 1.5, in some cases, uses some different textures and/or textures names, therefore the packs do not cover 100% of the textures!

Let’s see if I can find some spare time to update the packs.

aye, your texture-packs would have to be updated to cover any textures that were added and/or changed in maps in the AD v1.5 update

im currently almost done with a texture-pack for Per Asperi Ad Inferi (AD_lavatomb),
and i just started on a texture-pack for the AD_chapters (second start-map)

And AD_Fenrir is done! When I return home I'll post the link. I've got the Icarus texture packs updated for AD, but they're all mixed up in the main texture folder, since I have a single .pk3 file that hosts all the AD textures

small update on progress:

done some more work on AD_lavatomb and AD_chapters.

for AD_lavatomb i got 7 textures left to do,
and for AD_chapters there's 10 textures to go

After AD_Fenrir (tomorrow I'll be at home) I will probably make a patch will all AD liquids (water, slime, lava etc..) in high quality

AD has a lot of its own models which overwrite basic Quake models (powerups, ammo boxes, health boxes, exploding boxes, weapon pickups, first person weapons) so if you're using nice HD versions of these in your ID1 folder, AD uses its own version instead.

the SMC does NOT include any sort of ammo-boxes

AD has a lot of its own models which overwrite basic Quake models

aye, you can fix that by simply deleting the AD files from progs folder so that they wont override the HD models anymore.

any existing replacement ammo-boxes are actually just md3 files with renamed file-extension, and there is thus no need to convert them.
and all you would need to do is manually change the file-extension to mdl and move the files to progs folder.

however..... AD's ammo-boxes are all centered-aligned models, while regular quake has its ammo-boxes all corner-aligned.
so all available replacement ammo-boxes for quake are also corner-aligned to match the original ammo-boxes.



meaning that all available HD-models for ammo would all need to be edited to align them to center to be usable in AD.
otherwise the ammo-boxes will appear mis-aligned if used in AD.

.

most other models in AD however are just simply renamed and most of them are not edited in any way,
and getting HD replacement models and skins to work with those is just a matter of renaming the HD models/textures (and deleting the AD files)


ive actually been busy doing exactly yesterday, and ill share some of them soon

so far what ive set up for AD is:
-Obi-wan's hi-poly fiend
-Tabun's hi-poly enforcer
-my own HD skin for quoth's Edie
-reforged's skins for knight & deathknight
-Jeank's skin for the hexen2 hydra (with my purple version added for skin1)
-OoPpEe's hi-poly explo-boxes, PowerUps and Laser
