Been announcing it. I did do a total convert of the Mjolnir from Tombraider Underworld - however it differed GREATLY from the original and I wasn't happy with it. Did another remake (custom made) which I canceled due to it looking basic - I did the Marvel Comics Thor Hammer.
So I started to do a more SoA Style one (aka true to Quake version) here's what I have so far.
I do want to keep the "blocky" style too which is why it's still 6 sided.
This one is about 750-800 more polygons. Just because of the smoothing and and modeled on details - the orig just used dark lines to give off the edges - I modeled them on and them modeled on the trim. The bone is actually the same poly as the hammer. Wanted it to be detailed so the g_model will look great. Here's a shot of that ingame.
this second skin is much better compared to your first.
Great that you keep your mapping easy editable.
Though, as mentioned in PM, its all about the animation
Hoping you will take the original as reference. This would be great.
Due to multiple part model/skin, it will not be easy/possible for me to edit the animation,
as it was with the Lava supernailgun.
Looking foward to hold your wonderful brutal weapon in my "hands".
Update again. I am also keeping VERY basic UV mapping - making this weapon basically easy to re-skin for anyone who knows how to copy and paste. Basically it's a 1024x1024 with 3 512x512 squares inside - the remaining 512x512 is a arm and "trim" textures (around the rune area). So for Spinvis (just a example) if he wanted to make a Steel version he could just google a steel texture and paste over it - no skinning knowledge needed as it's a "square"
It depends on what version of the Mjolnir you refer to. Most of them are rock/stone - it's the "Ultimate Thor" from Marvel Comics who has a Steel version.
