    My shotgun WIP

    A new project I started on, not cheating this time by using a old model I made. I'm trying to create a new shotgun from scratch for Quake, that looks more or less like a Kel-Tec KSG.

    Here's what I got so far, after a good hour or so...


    I'll be posting updates as I get along

    UPDATE:
    So it's safe to say I've laid this project quite dead. I'm going to upload my final version of this model, as I'm really just not motivated to start over to fix all the errors I made whilst making it.
    Hope someone can make use of it though, I'll upload the original .ms3d file and some pictures right below.

    Milkshape? do you have any other format ?

    I got it into blender but missing animation frames

    Truly agree. New download links are up, the last one on my SkyDrive should be fairly permanent.

    True, but its dead to me The download link for the "project file" is in the OP.

    Why does the project have to be dead? You could post your project file and allow others to continue your great work. Don't let it die bro. That's a sweet model. When (good) people can't support their kids, they put them up for adoption - not abandon them. Be a good parent (lol).

    Real life can be a bitch, I'll leave it at that.
    As mentioned above, reworking big parts of the model, started with the pump handle, circled in, see reference in here.

    Progress: I'm doing it wrong. Overseeing proportions from the start is a dumb idea, paying for it now. Basically redoing major parts to make it look better.

    This should be a great project for me to learn frame animation.
    I hope you will post something in case it ends up lost like so many others have.
    I want to add recoil with shell ejection and maybe muzzle glow flash and
    particle effects.exporting to md5

    Polycount is currently around 2700, it's not that high really, but there's no point in having them present in the final model if they cant be seen. So like you suggest, pretty much everything that can't be seen by the player will be "shaved" off when I'm done. I'm going to finish the model when all the details I wish to add are there, because I intend to use it as a skin for Half-Life as well.

    Looks great!
    What's the polycount right now? If it's high, you always can make the "ridges" on the barrel (and below by the handle) into more of a block shape (a rectangle, then extrude the edges until it's smooth enough).
