hey seanstar.
i just decided to give your water a try after all after a long time....
but instead of better performance i actually get worse performance when using your water compared to webangels version of pretty water, while webangels water has better visuals.
i dunno what you did, but i get worse performance with your water while your water has less effects on it

Thank you Sean, I really like the exaggerated refraction it makes it pop.Originally posted by seanstar View PostHi

I will be editing the texture coloring soon for my tastes as i am not a traditionalist
Great job..

I've tried google chrome and firefox. It just isn't cooperating with me which is funny since I can download any of your other files or the files others post there. Oh well.

Your DP_water pak works great,I had no problems at all with it.
I just had them with the DP_reflect one.
But you were right there was a conflicting pak in there after removing it wave size and movement were increased along with refraction, wow is all I can say.I didn't think it could look much better and still a solid 60 FPS.
I really don't see much room for improvement in your last release unless you could somehow take it up a whole nother level by trying to incorporate specular highlighting as that is something nobody else has that I know of.
If you could adjust the specularity on the splashing you would make it very photo realistic but at what cost I have no clue.
2 Thumbs up:

Hi
@bluntz
i just took a screenshot so you could see how the new dp_water pack looks for me.

you could have another water pack in your quake\id1 folder...or water folder
in quake\id1\textures....remove any other water packs or folders..
hope this helps.
ive been working on the speed of the water just now and slowed it down alot, I might also work on the norm texture to balance the ripples out a little.
regards
Sean

Same shot edge on view picks up the sky textures

I get No transparency with this version at all.Last edited by bluntz; 05-14-2012, 01:56 PM.

Great Job, This is exactly what I want .
Shots from the new DP_water build you made showing perspective fresnel distortion correction.
Both top down and edge on are nearly perfect.Render performance is improved and border turbidity almost nil.
PURE PORN

I will take some pics from Your new DP_reflect shortly for comparisonLast edited by bluntz; 05-14-2012, 01:24 PM.

Hi Sean I have a question,
I grabbed you last water pack and wonder if I should see transparent water or not.
It seems to be solid reflect for me,if this is correct and not a build issue can I please get your previous release with both functions dp_reflect and dp_water? I thought it was gorgeous and dont mind the fps hit it costs.
Thanks:
JB
