  • Music Makers: Post your stuff here. Listeners: Enjoy

I couldn't find a post for this, but there seems to be a few people on this board who make music. You can also use this space to demonstrate your abilities to create soundtracks for mods and games. So use this thread to show off your sonic abilities!

I'll start: Here is my music under the name Mercurius FM. It's techno, house, and whatever other electronic bits I think sound cool.
Here is a playlist of personal favorites:

This is a great idea for a thread, it would be nice to have a go to area for music for a mod, and it would be even cooler if it was made by a fellow Quaker. I will probably try making my own music before I finish my mod/game.

      Agreed

I would love to have a new soundtrack for Quake that fit the game perfectly. However I am no composer by any means at all. Everyone always praises Trent Reznor's original soundtrack and this may be a bad thing to say but... I wasn't ever really that crazy about it at all. Not to mention he was stingy with his work refusing Nintendo 64 the rights to use it for the same game. So Aubrey Hodges had to make an entirely new soundtrack for the game. I thought Aubrey's work was ok but it seemingly focused more on a rap styled beat which really had no place for the overall feel and look of the game.

I agree, Trent's score wasn't anything to write home to mom about. I love the track for the base levels, but the rest don't really stand out to me. Front Line Assembly (they did some of the songs for Q3) really appeals to me for the Quake atmosphere, since Quake is kind of a blend of industrial and evil.

In fact, there's some songs by them I'm dying to put in the mod as tracks for some DM maps, but I don't want to deal with copyright issues.

          A decent make.

Have you all checked out the EPI Quake project yet? They have redone the entire soundtrack and most of the sound effects with HD sound and gave the game a more modern sound blend.
