  • I like it Heavy bro.

    Here begins my modern day shrine to Heavy Metal, feel free to share something, or feel free to worship something Heavier than yourself.

    So today, this song jammed my internal mp3 storage device (brain HAH) in an extremely undetailed heavy metal memory stuck on a 10-15 sec loop of awesome annoyance... This vague ass,name less jam, eventually spit out a memory about the lyric "Until the End". Clearly I was paying attention at some point in time, Breaking Benjamin goes hard as fuck. Today sucked a fucking ****, and I can't but take note that when my day became a shit show of backfiring I immediately heard this shit. All day long, I've been consumed again.

    This shits intense as fuck. If I had occupied the time of history that is depicted here, and this music video was the pitch material for taking funeral photos and other morbid ass shit they did, like entire families prepped for their big day after their last day. Where do I sign up,and can I keep the promotional video? Death is fascinating, this just touched every piece of morbid stigma I remember reading about. First time seeing this at first I was like WOW HEAD THATS EXPERIENCING SOMETHING FUCKING HEAVY,then I im given something like art but drowned in death, in a life like pose.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-zb4C_k7Ek[/ame]

    "I wouldn't be angry if you just fucking cried
    Your tears would arouse me, refreshing my supply
    The suffering is fading, I scream into the sky
    Repulsion invades me, I say goodbye"

    I think this is fucking hot as hell. Tears causing arousal is just some next level appetite imo.

    There are people who breathe the very same air as you and I, who would happily waste my share of the fucking oxygen telling me how Linkin Park isn't Heavy Metal. I can invision Chester letting some air into a room, via his lungs and his primal deafening scream starting at 1:55 and moving forward from there, thats the theme music that probably played when the Heavy deniers was placed all in the same room with a hammer wielding Chester. This shits an auditory assault on the sense of those deniers who insist someones favorite band isn't truthfully belonging in a genre,because you know. reasons!

    The term heavy metal refers to any metallic chemical element that has a relatively high density and is toxic or poisonous at low concentrations,or any type of music that usually encites riots. Examples of heavy metals include MetallicA,mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), thallium (Tl), and lead (Pb). -LennTech

              I don't buy into the 'what someone else thinks' is or isn't metal, this post isn't buying stock in that either. If you posted it here, you liked that shit, and that shit was HEAVY!

              Metal is always evolving, at one time your hardest metal was groups like Iron Maiden,Black Sabbath, etc, which eventually gave way to a fresh take on what Metal was to newer bands like Metallica,Slayer,Anthrax,Megadeth, the supposed big 4 of Metal.

              Then Nu-Metal, which was just another evolution, brought us Papa Roach , Linkin Park, Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc

              This is where I fell off the Metal music scene, I had a lot of absent time actively not giving a fuck about finding new artists or bands, when I wanted to hear metal I just youtube'd old shit and sometimes yay band X has new material.

              FiveFinger DeathPunch is a recent find, to me they made the Heavy detector get all detecty.

              2011 I had no clue they even existed, but they had this to offer
              [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLk75fFXqH4[/ame]

              2015 they are making a music video about being unhappy they have to make a music video, and on top of that, one of the band members asks "Do we have to be in the video" , it's either a joke,or a skit,or IDK. No idea bout these fuckers.

                These guys are my favorite modern metal band:

                [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZsvs51tTPA"]All That Remains - Become the Catalyst[/ame]

                [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2nMK6dTjyE"]All That Remains - Before the Damned[/ame]

                But my brand of metal comes in '80s flavors, so let's have a little throwback:

                  Not really directly related, but indirectly related: Ratt (another glam metal band from the early to mid 80s). I was really bored one Sunday night back in probably 2002 I think, so I headed down to the Masquerade in Atlanta to see who was playing. Ex-lead singer of Ratt, Stephen Pearcy was playing with his solo band, doing pretty much nothing but old Ratt tunes I guess - Round and Round, Back for More, Wanted Man, etc. Uh... MAAAAAN! Was that ever a depressing sight. I felt kinda sorry for Stephen Pearcy. He used to sell out huge arenas and stadiums back in the day, and there he was in a mid-sized club that could probably hold 500 people or more with maybe a total of 10 to 15 people at the show. I had NEVER seen it that empty in there before. Even when shitty local bands would be playing on a weeknight, they had a little more of a crowd in there. But it was kinda nice being able to walk right up to the bar and get a drink without having to wait.

                    Damn that is depressing. Ratt is also one of my favorites, always liked Pearcys raw voice. Too bad to hear he's not doing so hot...but a lot of those 80s guys are clinging on by a thread. I hate to say it, but they just need to retire. Def Leppard, ACDC...it's hard to watch them as old men

                      I dont listen heavy metal. I do not like too much already. But I must admit that Peste noire is an excellent band, like many other bands of "rance black metal de France". This is not even black metal (like Burzum, GOrgoroth, Mayhem etc...) and black metal is not heavy metal. But is something farely related

                      I think they are extreme nationalists and related stuff. I really do not care about the lyrics. They are good musicians. that's all.

                        Like I said, this was back in probably 2002, so that was 14 years ago. And at the time, Stephen Pearcy looked pretty pickled and bloated from too much drinking and very leathery from too much tanning when I saw him up close. Didn't I was literally standing 4 feet away from him when they were playing. Everyone was crowded right up against the wooden wall barricade at the stage and there was like 60 feet of open empty floorspace behind us all, lol. But god only knows what he looks like right now. Whew, I bet ain't too pretty.

                        Last I heard, Malcolm Young was in an old folks home with pretty advanced dementia. And a little before that, Phil Rudd got in some shit for supposedly hiring someone to kill someone for him. Not sure how that ever panned out, but I thought I heard something else about those charges being blown out of proportion and what he really did was just make "terroristic threats" to someone, probably saying something like "I'll kill you.", I dunno, don't quote me on none of it. And then there were rumors that Angus Young was gonna replace Brian Johnson with Axel Rose as the singer for a short tour stint, didn't hear whatever became of that either.

                        I was big into the death metal stuff back in the 90's when black metal was first starting to hit the scene. Georgia Tech's college radio station WREK 91.1FM used to have a Friday night metal show from 10pm until about 6am called "Wreckage", and that's where I first heard a lot of the death metal stuff that I fell in love with. But slowly, they started mixing in songs from bands like Mayhem and Emperor and Satyricon. I wasn't a fan. As far as I could tell, the whole point of it was for bands to feature the absolute worst production quality imaginable and to sound as much as possible like they recorded the whole album in a tiny truckstop bathroom with nothing but a small cassette deck and a cheap little condenser mic they bought at Radio Shack. Just awful sounding crap.

                            The short story: This band is a local New Orleans band. This is only their first album. Their second album "The Law" is even heavier and represents what I'm about to say more accurately. These guys were "Pantera" before Pantera stopped being a hair-metal band. It's actually really true. Phil Anselmo played a bunch of Exhorder and other groove metal bands for the rest of Pantera and then Pantera became "better" Exhorder. If ya don't know, Phil is from here (New Orleans).
