    >look too the left and right near where the the main complex meets the rock walls in those little allyway-like areas, if see nothing enter the complex
You inspect the areas outside the complex. To the left, you find a small box of shells. To the right, you find a medikit.

    Ray finds 20 shells (20ga)
    Ray finds 1 Medikit

You take further note of your surroundings now that you are outside. The sky above is black. Apparently, its night time. Clouds roll by, but there are no stars in the sky. The moon is missing also. You highly doubt you're on earth anymore. This dimension is weird...
You enter the complex, shotgun hipped, but like the previous areas, theres no one here. By now, you have completely forgotten what this place is supposed to look like. Amnesia has set in fully. Sure, you remember who you are, who you were, where you come from, blah blah blah...but you've completely forgotten your prior exploits in this dimension. Your epic battles with the Elder Gods Chthon and Shub Niggurath never happened in your mind. Something has changed in the air of this hellish dimension. Something is manipulating you and your memories, unbeknownst to you. You continue on, clueless to your internal struggles.

    >proceed to quad secret
This dimension is completely alien to you now. You don't know where any secrets are anymore! It also seems that the dimensions of Quake have been altered since you were here last...not that you'd know the difference. Keeping this is mind, you take careful note of the complex, making sure to note the small details.

You are standing in the door way of the complex.
Straight ahead of you is a large, rectangular barrel. Wonder whats in it? Heheheh...
To your right is a wall with a small computer terminal on it. There is a corpse leaning against the wall.
Above you is a large inset light fixture. Its blinking...
To your left is a gradually-spiraling passage. You see an overpass in the distance, but from where you're standing, you cant tell where it goes.

            > inspect barrel
            > throw quarter at barrel
You look at the barrel. It has roughly the same dimensions as you do, maybe slightly taller. There are biohazard symbols all over it. You suspect that this barrel is loaded with dangerous crud. How fun! You decide to play with the barrel a bit before moving on. You take out your only form of currency and flick it at the barrel. It lands with a loud *TINK*. Its definitely full of something. You try to move it, but it weighs a ton. With your strength alone, it won't even budge.

            > inspect corpse
            >inspect small computer terminal
You head to the small room on the right and look at the scenery. A terminal and a body. Lovely. The corpse is one of an Enforcer. The faceplate on his helmet is smashed and destroyed. His weaponry has been taken from him, ripped right out of his neural system. His left arm is missing. He has a look of sheer terror on his dead face. This is (or was) a man roughly twice your size with weaponry much more advanced than yours. The thought of something terrifying him so makes your blood run cold. He has something on his belt...

            Ray finds 5 energy cells

You turn upward to the computer terminal. It's turned on. Someone named Phoenix is logged in.

            "Welcome Phoenix.

            >Check Email
            >Run diagnostic
            >Play DOOM II
            >Activate Flatbed
            >Log Off"

You plant yourself in front of the built-in keyboard and try to decide with command to enter first.

Darn. Guess you can't install world of warcraft on here either.

                    >check email
                    There are three messages here

                    "To: Fenmoore "Phoenix" Stockton
                    From: Diana Perales
Hey. Haven't seen or heard from you in a few weeks. I hope you didn't take what my brother said seriously. He's not really gonna kill you in your sleep. I miss you. Call me."

This message was dated 3 weeks ago. You wonder who this Phoenix is...our was.

                    "To: PFC Stockton
                    From: Lt. Donavon
You' ve been working on bringing the sergeant back and closing the slipgates for a week and a half straight now. The invasion is over, the immediate threat is dead. Let the science department take over, that's what they're paid for. Get some rest, private. That's an order."

This one was dated two weeks ago. So Phoenix was a soldier...now your brain is riddled with questions about this invasion, what the military's involvement with it was and why you don't remember them telling you anything about it. Also, who is the sergeant and where is he? Why are they trying to close the slipgates? They just launched that stupid project!

                    "To: Phoenix S.
                    From Joey
Dude r u still @ da slipgate complex? Ppl r gonna start thinkin u live thar or summat. Hows da hunt for da sarg goin bro? Btw call Diana. She keeps askin me where u r. Think she digs u bro. Ttyl."

This message was sent only a couple of days ago. Hmm. You suspect that this Phoenix must still be here. If he's alive, maybe he can help you. If he's dead, then the people that care about him know nothing about it.

                      >run diagnostic, collect quarter while diagnostic in progress
You select the diagnostic option, which opens up a few sub-options.

                      "System Diagnostic
                      Network Diagnostic
                      Complex Diagnostic"

You begin the system diagnostic, which takes only a few seconds to complete.

                      "System:
Macrosuave Ventanas ZP Professional Military Version 2012
                      Registered to:
                      The USMC
                      Slipgate Complex
                      35715-765-233653463-44563

                      Terminal:
                      Local Disk (C: ) Free/14GB Total/465GB
                      Local Disk (D: ) Free/1.3GB Total/820GB
                      Temporary Files: Empty
                      Firewall: Active
                      Malware Scanner: Active
                      Last Scan: 98 hours ago"

Yeah yeah yeah, very boring. The network diagnostic takes even less time.

"No networks detected. Check your connections. Contact ISP if problem persists."

Mkay...you opt to check the network connections on the side of the terminal....only to see that there are none! Weird...you wonder how exactly Phoenix was able to recieve his email on this terminal without any internet connections. This place is fucked up.

You begin the diagnostic for the entire complex and pray that it doesn't require system admin access....
"Compliling diagnostic. This may take a few minutes..."
                      ...
                      ......
While it works, you walk over to the barrel and pick your quarter up.

                      Ray re-finds his quarter

When you get back to the terminal, you find the complex diagnostic completed.

                      "Base Diagnostic-Slipgate Complex

Additional comments: It is advised that the Securty Grid and Alarms are enabled to ensure optimum base safty. Be advised, Diagnostics show both Forklift and Fladbed are in efficient condition, however maintainance is 38 days overdue. To ensure continued efficiency, please make the required maintainance on the base's power equipment. Be advised, continued opperations without running water compromises the base's power generators and air filtration. Reconnect the water line ASAP for continued efficiency. Be advised, no network connections are detected in the base's mainframe. In order to receive any messages from HQ, a reliable network connection MUST be established.

                      Diagnostic finished."

Facinating...11/03/12 was nearly a month ago. So Phoenix never checked out. You look down at the corpse next to the console. The dogtags on his neck are blank. This enforcer was not a soldier in the USMC. Well damn, that's a whole other issue right there. When you blasted the corpse up at the entrance, you didn't even see any dogtags on his neck. Who are these soldiers and why are they leaving their corpses in your military's base?

So many questions...so much confusion....you wonder if maybe you're losing your sanity.

Lessee....your computer skills aren't all that great, but you think you can manage more complicated commands from your console. You know where the USB port is on your arm pad, and you think you see one on the botton of the terminal. This should be easy, right?
Console, connect to that terminal. Go!
                            ..........
                            ...................
Hm....maybe if you had a USB cable?
Well, you'll just have to give terminal hacking your best shot. You type in a simple command to enable the external network.

                            "Trying...
                            Still Trying...
                            Still Trying...
No response. Please use the Mainframe Computer to enable any of the base's functions."

                            Alrighty then. So.......wheres the Mainframe?

                            > activate flatbed
You select the Flatbed option. A small 4' x 4' door off to your left opens.. Theres a flat cart with treads like a tank resting inside. Its not very big, maybe 5 feet long. A light comes on inside the closet and a robotic voice comes to life.
                            "Flatbed operational."
You go over to Flatbed and grab the handle on it. You grip what you assume to be the reverse button and Flatbed damn near rolls you over. This thing is zippy! You try to ride it, but the safty mechanics of the buttons require you to be behind the thing for it to move. Damn. Now, what should we do with this thing? Doesn't look like it has any functionality as a weapon. It's too small to actually run anything over. It is heavily built enough to haul around really heavy objects though.
                            grraaaarrrgh
The most eerie sounding growl you ever heard in your life flows through your ears while you play with Flatbed. You site your shotgun toward the far passage and carefully watch for anything to show up. A minute or so goes by, and nothing shows. You carefully lower your gun and get back to whatever it was you were doing before you needed a new pair of boxers.

Remembering how heavy the barrel is, you opt to move Flatbed to the barrel instead. You attempt to lift the barrel onto Flatbed, but its so heavy, you can't even get it a half-inch off the ground. You contemplate ramming the barrel with Flatbed so that it tips over onto Flatbed, but the ominous biohazzard stickers all over the thing make you second guess that idea. Maybe if you had a Forklift...?

                                grrrrrggghh

More horrifying growls. They sound closer this time. You glare at the far passage, waiting for anything to show and taste the business end of your shottie. The Blinking Light above you buzzes and snaps your attention back to the task at hand.
