This is what I am saying ,Visd or not a dedicated server does not allow you to see items in the water, I have my own water visd and play with R_novis 1 all day long and don't see anything in it on any server. The teleporter are a different situation though as I can see through if the map is visd serverside.
Try it on your own machine there is no telling wtf someone else has done.

I added Both servers to the quakeone serverlist.(Brasil section)
They are automatic in glpro493(proquake) multiplayer list.

Pings for me are 195-200 from Europe , -50 ping compared to the terra servers.

I find 200 ping very playable!
        My servers for the gamers:
        bigfoot.servequake.com / damage.servequake.com

        port 26000 EuroQuake
        port 26001 EuroQuake Coop

        newyork.quakeone.com
        Offline ATM
        fvf.servequake.com
        flanders.servegame.org / flanders.servequake.com
        Offline ATM
        newdm.servequake.com
        port 26010

Here you see I have set R_novis 1 and the weapons in the water are NOT visible in multiplayer. This was set to a listen server even.

If the server has a vis'd map then clients will see thru the water.
r_novis is not required on the server end, nor the client end.
Only the use of r_wateralpha % for the client is required.

If you are just loading up quake and doing map "dm3" r_novis 1/r_wateralpha 0.5 u wont see weapons in Qrack just the clear water.

Use r_novis 2 on a LOCAL singleplayer game to see everything thru water, even if the map isnt vis'd.

Try testing with proquake to see if u get same results, u might have a bug in 1.60 otherwise.

My maps ARE visd and R_vis 2 makes no diff.
Just to be dam sure though send me your map you are using to see the items.

actually, a properly water-vised map will show weapons etc through water. the catch is that the server needs the watervised map as well as the client.
r_novis will not affect the server (not even a listen server), you do need to revis the map for it to work properly (while its possible to mod a server to ignore vis like a client can, you're _very_ likely to get packet overflows thus its generally not the done thing. With anti-wallhack code, its almost practical to force-disable vis on servers).

I can still see thru water leafs with anti-wallhacking enabled for all entities, sv_cullentities 2, on a map that has been water-vised.

the catch is that the server needs the watervised map as well as the client
Agreed. More so, if you dont have a vis'd version of the map, and the server does, then using r_wateralpha 0.5 wont make the water clear but you will see weapons trhu the water which looks really odd. Unless you use r_novis which defeats the purpose of having a vis'ed map.

I did not think it was possible to have clear water at all without a visd map set to r_novis 0.I guess if it is then I have lost my mapset I had visd somehow.
You are correct I had lost my mapset somehow,I copied the old one and all is seen.R_novis makes no difference as items are seen even if set to 0.
