For a couple of weeks now a tournament called Free Thursday Kenya has been alive and kicking. As the name suggests*, this is a custom map FFA tournament running every Thursday of the week with the players being put into different groups decided by their skill - rookies play rookies and veterans play veterans.
One map is decided upon for each week and the whole tournament runs over one evening, starting from 20:00 CEST and lasts to around 22:00 CEST. The FFA rounds takes turns between the groups, that means you will have breaks between your games where you can reload with coffee, bananas or whatever makes you bring forth your ace game.
If you want to participate you go to the Quakeworld.nu forum to sign up and then you will need to wait until next Thursday to get your share of the summer Quake. The map for this week is Head-Shot which is easy to learn. That should mean quick frags for whoever decides to join the action. If you are on IRC you can say hello and ask questions about the tournament to the whole Kenya collective in #kenya.
