Dont you have a virtual machine with win2k or something?
Install it there in the same path as on your real pc and then copy all of the files after patching.
I dont know if Outlaws makes registry changes....But you can search that via regedit.

I cant try it myself right now. So this are just suggestions

    webangel is right.

This is the instruction in german:
    Outlaws: unter Windows XP, Vista, 7 (64-Bit) « rePlaying.de

You will be able to use also 24'' monitor resolutions.
But you will need the .bat file (explained by Shambler234), that ends explorer, if you use win7.

    @ talisa

If you have issues with the updates, read the above link or use your XP-Mode in Win7

    yeah... thats exactly the problem....

im running win7 64bit, and i cant run those updates :/

and the direct3d update wont install, cuz the original installer from the game didnt work and i had to cheat by copying the game-folder directly from the discs to my HD.
and when i try to install the update it says it cant find my outlaws installation and i have to reinstall the game from disc.... which i cant do

I dont know if I´m right exactly but I think the D3D patch released 2001 should work in higher resolutions (1600x1200) and you dont need a Glide wrapper.
You have to install Outlaws 1.1 and 2.0 updates first.

Just for giggles I cranked up WinXP(sp2) in a VirtualBox session and installed it... one patch(1.1) went off without a hitch but the other did not

I have no idea on to get it at a higher rezzie though... I might just play a lil' of it over the coming weekend.

if your having color problems (which I'm having) create a batch file IE: Outlaws.bat

    taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
    C:\LucasArts\Outlaws\OLWIN.EXE
    Start explorer.exe

OLWIN.EXE is the exe of outlaws.

Also try installing the patch if you haven't LucasArts.com | Outlaws

any of you have some tut how to run the game at high resolutions?

tried a couple things from sites but only managed to get it to run at either 640x480 or 800x600,
and on some site i found some glide-wrapper which didnt work at all.

i have the nGlide wrapper, is there some way to make it run through that?

Cool, glad you remembered it. It was a bit graphically challenged even at that time, but a great game nonetheless.

I don't know if I'd play it as I've just watched an entire walkthrough but... I HAVE two pristine CD's that is the game! Hehe

Plus I'd have to figure out which way to update and play it anyway I'm content to just listen to the music tonight though
