It's a legit question. People still play the original quake online as you can clearly see on this site.

There are a few Q2 servers still around. I'm not very up on it as I just started playing again as someone I play with regularly had his graphics card die (that and a bit of nostalgia). The last time I played Q2 was Quake2Max, which was quite a while back. I think the latest big-time port is KMQuake II. There is a Berserker port, but I'm not sure how many people are playing mp on the net.

One thing I've found is that a heck of a lot of q2 stuff has gone offline recently. Everybody and his robot dog links back to this site for q2 stuff: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~jimw/q2 The site is dead for me.

Also, I want to add for anyone out there who is using r1q2 or q2pro that McAfee has removed anticheat.dll from its virus list. Now you will no longer have McAfee keep quarantining that file.

I'm not, actually. I reported that file to McAfee on a friend's behalf cause he didn't want to do it.

I use Kaspersky.

The computer I am on at this very moment came with McAfee. I set the computer up standard, went on the net to download some tools I use and got a virus within an hour or two. That's an hour or two from purchasing the thing. Fuck McAfee, how is it even considered legit anymore? Every damn thing that comes via a downloader asks me if I want some McAfee bullshit with it. Flash player upgrade comes to mind. I use AVG, FTW!
