      Not at all really unless you got a engine which will make a normal map based off the original texture which imo would look pretty bad as it would make darks "deep" and lights "high" which would indent areas which are suppose to be outward. Since it would also do it realtime - would be hard on the cpu or gpu. Retexturing would be the only decent way to do it sadly.

      • Or make engine scalers? normal2x, 2xsai, 3xsai etc? that can scale up textrures.

          It's a great idea, but my preferred scaler is "Super Eagle Engine". See it in ZSNES emulator.

          • My favourite is HQ2X , but that one is rather taxing (there are some rather nice shaders out there that do it without so much slowdown)...maybe advmame2x ?

                • dont let the idea of the scalers... it's great! maybe somebody hate my textures

                  ...and i think that the engine can be programmed to scale only the small textures... under 256*256 in example)

                  i'm very interested in this matter

                  • I always love your textures, its great don't mind bad things. I mean scalers for textures that not retextured. (for originals)

                      • UQE is still on track, I just got distracted with a new PC.
                        The engine is pretty stable, I've found fixes for two of the major issues in the engine which I'm busy applying.

                        Then I need to do something to make the blooming look better, maybe implementing shaders for it or something using FBO. All & all I think UQE will be released in January.

                        • try to look at tech3-derivated engines features. I think you will find many interesting things look at Jshexen too. it is becoming a very-good engine =)
                          (and naturally to darkplaces)

                          consider to use shaders massively. GPU is always winner against CPU
