    started a topic Diablo I

    Diablo I

I have to say, I love this game. It is really a great game, and the horror

themes are extremely well portrayed and fleshed out - not to mention the

music in the game is superb.

With some heavy difficulty/revamp mods such as "The Hell" (Horrible name i

know) It's great fun in coop. I much prefer this over Diablo 2 - Diablo 2 i felt

skimped too much on the horror aspect and was just more of an "Action" RPG

    - It was still really good too though - but a lot of the atmosphere that made

the first one good was gone. When I was a kid playing it i was scared of the

    Butcher

I can't speak for anyone else but I think D3 will be disappointing, as every

new thing they reveal looks more and more like a WoW/God of War Hybrid. I

really don't see why they laid off Blizzard North.

Seriously, this town theme is amazing.

Always-online will soon be simply forced on everybody.

80 % of people don't care about these things. If you belong to the 20 % who do, the game industry doesn't care about you.

You cannot change it because most people simply can't be arsed to care about anything besides themselves.

Divide and conquer, it's the same old thing - the Romans already did it. You will adapt, or you will perish, because you're powerless and you're a minority if you care about these things.

You're a minority if you're smart, pretty much. Which is a flaw in evolution theory.

Sorry for bumping, but I had to mention that I loved Diablo (1), I kinda liked the expansion. I enjoyed Diablo 2 (though, I could never finish it without a "hero editor" to give me more skill points), and Im hating already what I see about diablo 3.

I do have a problem (like many people) with the art direction of the game, but I was willing to leave that aside and give it a shot. Now, with the announcement that even for SP you must be online all the time, it really really drove me away. Is not because of "OMG IM GONNA GET IT PIRATE AND I DONT WANT THEM TO KNOW", but because where I live, I easily loose connection. I used to hate Steam until I saw that even without internet connection, you can open it just fine, and play your games just fine, which is great for me.

Also, if at some point I go broke (because I have gone through that before) and I cannot afford internet connection say, for a couple months? Then what? Screw me? I cannot afford internet so Im not worthy to play your game I already paid for? That's what bothers me so much. Im not getting that game, now Im sure of that.

@Bloodshot, i have no idea, you can ask the author here: link.

@daniocampo1992, i think you misunderstand, it is not a remake or retexture of the game, it is a complete reverse engineer of the Diablo 1 game and it's Hellfire expansion. So you will need to have the original CD of Diablo in order to play it. With this you will be able to play the game on modern computers and other OS.

That's cool, I got a question for you, will we be able to make new dungeons and towns for Diablo 1 when this thing is finished?

Man.. I finished D1 with the 3 characters, incredible atmosphere that true.. I played D2 too, I choosed the paladin, it was funny, nice story, but wasn't the same as the first one.. I used to hate the forest.. -.-'
Couldn't finish the game, It was impossible to beat Diablo with the paladin..

I loved WC3, but never played WoW..

It was updated? Oh, and I was pessimistic about this project (because of bad experiences in the past).

I love D1, D2 was a great game too, but the atmosphere just wasn't as great as the first game, imho.

@ Bloodshot: Yeah DarkXL is great, i myself am a frequent user of DarkXL, and i am gonna use it even more since its gonna support Blood and Outlaws as well, that's gonna be even more kick ass. I don't have the Elder Scrolls III so i can't play with DaggerXL, but i am sure its great as well since its from the same author.

@ IronWarfare, he is not remaking Diablo, but reverse engineering it. It means you will need the original data files from the game in order to play the game with the new engine.

/\ A lot of things work quite well when it's one guy. Take these for example

    DaggerXL and DarkXL

Both being made by the same guy, and the game is almost fully playable for Dark Forces, and also Daggerfall is pretty close too. You'd be amazed by what just one coder can do when they don't need any custom assets
