Starting today, anyone can join up and play the Beta of BF3 online:
Battlefield Blog
I was playing the beta on the metro map for a while and thought it was alright, kind of fun, but it was way to small, condensed, narrow etc. for Battlefield. It gave me a bad first impression.
Then i found out dice was giving out the Password to servers on Caspian Border:
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9ndz13zUms]? Battlefield 3 Beta - Caspian Border - Part 1 (vehicles, jets, joy) - YouTube[/ame]
It was amazing. 64 player maps, moving in to capture and defend outposts with squads (i was mostly an engineer) and watching Jets dogfight overhead with amazing sounds, totally sold me on the game.
I encourage anyone here to join up and start playing, but be warned - its a beta so there will be bugs (of course)
And trust me, don't judge the game until you've gotten to play the Caspian map at least once. It's virtually a different game from the other map.
BTW the current password if you do want to play caspian is: shoppingcartsareagoodride - might change soon tho.

I uninstalled, I found the flavor of Origin just as distasteful as Steam. I hate worthless front-ends, and requiring Origin is a clever move, forcing anyone wanting to participate to also participate in a possible competitor to Steam. I mean, if you like war sims, most likely you'll think OPEN BETA? WTFOK!?
I did, and was left wondering why I bothered to dl 3.9gb of fail. I'll avoid things like this from now on, as it seems to me its just tainting the experience from the start.

They added Caspian border back to the PC beta, time to play again.

It's actually not pre-rendered, just running on full settings in DX11.
And it doesn't use steam, it uses origin.
I just played some BF2 last night. Good times.

Is BF3 a STEAM controlled game?
Does this connect with PC and console networks?
I want Something That I have control over, to mod as I please.
This looks so much like Nations at War ( A BF2 mod )
Nations at War - Home
Looks like 7.0 is in the works
While the GFX are not as shiny as BF3 there is still lots of life left in BF2
for the mods.
That BF3 Thunder run trailer looks pretty sic
But how much of it is pre rendered I wonder..Last edited by bluntz; 10-01-2011, 08:54 AM.

Apparently they were either wetting our appetite with Caspian, or seeing how well the servers handled 64 players - which went pretty well apparently.

/\ I got to try out the jets in game, they were pretty awesome.

They removed caspian border from the servers? I am disappoint.
Now the beta is stuck on the cod-like map. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
EDIT:
What the F*ck? apparently typing in all caps gets the forums to fix punctuation FOR you. That's a nice way to be lazy

If it didn't have Call or Duty in the title,I've pretty much avoided any franchise besides the CoD's. and I didnt get on board til Soap became apart of the story line.
BF3 is definately a CoD killer.

Have you folks played the first bad company mod for bf2 NAW?
It is steam free if you have the retail BF2 and similar to that one.
