    Witcher 2 , zomg?

Anyone else tried this game yet? It's taxing my dual gpu and quad core something unheard of.....

I'm seeing my gpu's reach over 100~c , and both GPU's run at 100%. Holy crap?

Witcher2 can easily become "the" benchmark, considering I've been reading that people with far superior hardware than mine are having the same issue's, 100% usage of their GPU's (even Trifire setup's are showing 100% usage across all 3!)

This game is fun,and I enjoy it thoroughly but im weiry about "just playing" , I am constantly monitoring temperatures and not liking what I see.

    OOF!

    and its all DX9 !?!?!?

Yea, and to think it also brought to my attention the hidden dust bunnies in my video card.

    WTBONG?! 28c ????

Yea, I smoke. I also cough too, but thats in relation to the first part of my reply.

I usually clean every other month, it just so happened that I wasn't moving my tower to a workspace , therefor I couldn't see the dust bunny collection building underneath the plastic shroud.

Sorry, I was busy playing Witcher2,as I havent been able to enjoy the game with the knowledge of heat issues. I spent like 1hour+ the other day cleaning them both. They would be idling cooler but I had to flash modified bios's to both of them because of problems with stock settings & overclock settings.

I take good care of my hardware, I just don't normally MOVE my entire tower and disconnect all its cords and cables, which is what was required to actually SEE the build up.

I take your "not answering" as a yes for smoking. This is the badest you could do to your computer and of course to yourself. Clean the Tower/Fans/Heatsinks at least all 3 months with a vacuum cleaner. As cooler the hardware runs as longer it lasts. Idle temp here 28°C, full load about 75°C.

Which has nothing to do with AS5. AS5 is just a good way to make money. Dust kills your components if you're not cleaning out your case often. Did you smoke by the computer?

I didnt move it, it's still exhausting. I took out the front intake 80mm fan completely,as it was begging me to end its life ,the bearings or something inside it are shot and insanely dusty.

I was going to just blow them out, but when I looked at it upside down I could see that the inside of the plastic covers on the video cards was mega caked with dust, so I had been looking at the heat sinks fin's thinking it was okay the whole time, but it required a different viewing angle to see the shit-fest of caked dust bunny's under the plastic cover

It had the consistency of pound cake haha, and when I squished it, it held its shape haha, ew.

So,I took both gpu's apart entirely, and the only way to take off the plastic covering on them was to also take off the entire hsf assembly, which also required I replace the thermal compound. I used AS5 after cleaning them really good.

my original idle temps are now my full load temps

So you moved your exhaust fan to make it an intake for the video cards? Looks like it wasn't a bad move, but I would get that exhaust fan replaced. Without it, heat will build up in your case and slowly roast your hardware over time.

I ripped out the 80mm fan in picture 2 (in the pic its missing, its same tower, just not mine), it was a peice of shit anyway, and so caked full of dust its basically become trash, which is where it ended up,the trash can.

Looking at that case, you need more vents and not 80 mm, in my case i have 4 120 mm (and I can still add 2 more) fans controlled by a Lian Li 5.25 inch fan control thermometer.

    Before cleaning / AS5 replacement
    [Idle temp's]

    1st gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=57
    GPU Sensor 2=70
    GPU Sensor 3=59
    2nd gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=48
    GPU Sensor 2=52
    GPU Sensor 3=48

    [Witcher2 Temps]
    1st gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=80
    GPU Sensor 2=105
    GPU Sensor 3=83
    2nd gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=71
    GPU Sensor 2=77
    GPU Sensor 3=73
K, now cleaning / rearranging. :F be back shortly

    After cleaning / AS5 !!!!

    [Idle temps]
    1st gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=51
    GPU Sensor 2=51
    GPU Sensor 3=50
    2nd gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=48
    GPU Sensor 2=52
    GPU Sensor 3=48

    [Witcher2 Temps]
    1st gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=66
    GPU Sensor 2=70
    GPU Sensor 3=67
    2nd gpu
    GPU Sensor 1=42
    GPU Sensor 2=50
    GPU Sensor 3=44
FOQ , the heatstink's fin's was actually quite clean, but the underside of the plastic shield/cover was a EPIC amount of dust bunnies, that had the consistency of sponge cake. lol

Those are neat, haven't seen those before.

input/output panel, there already IS a case fan there, but its pretty pointless right there because the PSU is exhausting directly above it.

At least that will put out the hot air directly near the GPUs. Also you should hook up a fan (first picture) where all the motherboard ports go out the case (backside) i don't know the exact word for that. Then let the front fan suck in air on the CPU, the CPU Fan blows backwards and the back fan blows out and the PSU Fan blows also out. Then you have a direct air flow front -> CPU -> Back. This brings down your case temp. And get one or two of this slot coolers if possible. Side Fan i would let blow in but you could also test to let it blow out and see what better works.
