This is what happened to me Sole, must have put ~15 hours this weekend. What an amazing game.
Had to drop the graphics settings so it can run on my laptop, still looks amazing. Agree'd - the NPC interactions really get you immersed in the game.
The main interface reeks of console, but after getting used to it, it flows nicely.

I got it on PS3 but haven't played it yet
Bunch of stuff came up in the past week so I just haven't had a chance to sit down and play it. With a 4 day holiday weekend I think I'll be spending a good amount of time trying it out though!!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim tweaks improve graphics, disable Vsync, change FOV and more | PC Gamer <---------good list of tweaks to use. Change FOV, disable mouse accel, couple graphical enhancements, vsync. Though, I just forced vsync off through nvidia control panel since I never use it anyway.
BUT, with vysnc off, there is a problem in caves or other enclosed places where the FPS would shoot into the hundreds. The vertical mouse sensitivity is really tied to FPS for some reason AND I would start getting graphical glitches. So, I downloaded an FPS limiter from SkyrimNexus.com and set it to 80 to fix that.
FPS Limiter at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community
Like I said before, the game isn't optimized at all for PC's. Even with my gtx 580 SLI set up, there are a few spots in the game where the FPS go below 30, and the vertical mouse sensitivity issue pops up again, making it more difficult to look up and down. Disabling AA through the setup menu, and enabling FXAA in the advanced tab seems to help, as does putting shadows on medium or high rather than ultra (stupid bethesda has your CPU do the shadows since this is a console port and I'm sure they had to make it that way to run on the 360 and ps3).
And I think that's all for now... let me know if ya have any questions.

I'm a warhammer-slinging, heavy armor-wearing Dark Elf Warrior. My skill in archery is surprisingly high, though. Kinda hard to hit dragons with a hammer when they are flyin

Dudeski it looks great on PS3, I have no complaints. To be honest, there is no need for optimizing it, trying to get the best video card, or having a top rig to run it at max settings. It runs very nice and looks beautiful. There are no FPS issues when playing.Originally posted by PlanetnineThanks for the input guys. I cant believe you play it on PS3 Tal wtf!
I must have missed the cut off age for the consoles. I cant stand them for the most part. Most games in my opinion are meant to be played on PC. The only games i have ever enjoyed on a console are Racing and Fighting (MK Series) types of games.
Dave, did you disable the mouse acceleration through the ini or is it more difficult than that? Do you have a link on a quick how to?
thanks!

So far I'm still running around Winterrun doing small side quests, you can do a billion of them, it's ridiculous. The world is huge, you can spend literally hours in just one town doing quests. I have a bunch of perks but I'm really not sure what I want to put it into yet. I'm thinking of being a good one handed arms guy and having high destruction magic.. I don't like two handed, the attacks are too slow and the fighting system doesn't always register the hits, so it's not a good combination!
I'm also not sure why so many people like doing archery.. I fucking hate shooting bows! Let me get in there and tank and slaughter.. that's a lot more fun.. probably why I chose a red guard guy
The quests reek of awesome.. I've never played RPGS much as I tend to get hyped up and then brought back down to earth after reaching level 14 of pure boredom. This game is fun in the sense that the NPCs understand the world around them and it makes it more interactive.
Other than Quake, this is the only game I play when I have time. Certainly can't invest as much as that addict Spoon though.

I dig it thus far. Very well-made when compaired to Oblivion. Good main storyline, too

I've been playin this game A LOT lately. It's a little rough around the edges on PC. Requires some tweaking to disable mouse acceleration, and the game overall just isn't optimized AT ALL for PC's. That being said, despite its flaws, it's a fantastic game.

Looks good.
If it is as free an environment as the hype suggests it might make it to my PC.
I have just been burned so many times I never grab the first release dates.
I use you guys for my virtual prophylactic.
