Anyone here play DeFrag Q3A mod ?

Hi fellow Quakers!!!

In my pursuit to become a decent Quake 3 player, I started playing DeFrag....a single player mod that is obstacle based and against the clock, where the player must negotiate the map using the standard weapons in vanillia Quake 3 as quickly as possible. By doing so you must Rocket jump, plasma climb, grenade jump and strafe jump over walls, lava and other traps set by the map designers. Its tough but addictive!

It has indeed made me a better player in normal Quake 3 (Clan arena and so on too) and especially in CTF in space maps where Rocket jumping can shoot you across maps then strafing to victory

Anyone who has Q3 installed and patched up to 1.32....have a look for the last made DeFrag client and try it out. If there are any players here....please comment on your fave maps and best times please

I only play DeFrag in single player mode. Its been a long time since i've been on a server running it.

Atm, I am trying runs by Pornstar and Bull as trying to improve my strafing skills and wishing to get my "UPS" up by honing my technique. I have always felt this is my weakest skill in defrag as can Rocket jump, plasma climb, grenade jump well enough and even understand overbounces and predict rockets to blast me into oblivion!

I agree with the repeditive nature of it but that's how you get better and shave seconds off your time

What maps do you play RL Clown and do you prefer Standard or CPM movement?

I play Q3 Defrag, but I only play it on single-player mode. Yes, it can teach me a lot of new skills. But I find that Defrag gets boring and repetitive. (No disrespect, I'm just saying...) Defrag is an excellent mod for beginners though.

I have it downloaded , I just never installed haha :/ I'm sure its dated now,I'll delete & update. A ton of the IHOC players moved to UrbanTerror. I am just wondering if the entire physics of the game was successfully ported too.

It would be very apparent the first time I played if its flukey in the iOQuake engine thing.

They had initially planned to use the enemy territoy engine.

Ok that is a crazy map!

There is 2 hidden parts to it...1 is the inside of the alien ship and the other is a hidden pyramid within a room that is locked. Both require a little bit of thought (although the alien ship is a toughie ).

More a DM map than a DeFrag map though and would make a good TDM 3v3 as its quite sneaky. Would suit Urban Terror players moreso Quake 3 Arena players due to its small rooms and places to hide/ambush your opponents i'd say.

But it is smooth, bug free (so far) and looks great!

That is a collosal map!

I need to find that.....would be great for a 2v2 or 3v3.

Not so great for defrag perhaps but you never know? bit of freestyle

Yes there are Quake 3 servers still on the go....as mentioned though, a lot are UT (Urban Terror) servers (I hate UT...its like Counterstrike but in a Q3 engine and I hate Counterstrike!) and some are other mods like DeFrag.


I always thought that when quake live came out, Quake 3 servers would resurface but no and quake live doesn't run CPMA

Last I checked, no. There aren't many though last time I was in the UrbanTerror mod browser,and its been awhile since I played THAT because I lost my cdkey for Q3A.... so,meh,whatever.

I'm always game to be apart of / or even Found a [Q1] clan. I nearly always label myself Quake1 something in newer games...
