Color count is worthless in this matter, because it represents mere numbers, but not how they spread across the color spektrum.

I am having a hard time understanding what exactly you're expecting,from a game that consists of nearly 100% the various colors that are found in piles of poop. I am 100% sure you could create finger paint art using different shades of shit and still remain 100% faithful to what Quake1 originally looked like.


Thats because its rampant with browns, darker browns,and more shades of browns.The color's you choose in multiplayer Quake1 offer more "Color" than any other aspect of Q1.

Don't compare 8bit color to 24bit color and use RGB instead of average luminance for color.
