    Baker Quake1 HYPE train!

This post has been brought out of the bowels of the dungeon 'no one checks', if you want to get a pretext to any of this, you can find that post here...

    http://quakeone.com/forums/quake-tal...-not-fair.html

If you want to know what was 'not fair' , I have added that to the link above in a reply as well.

In 2 weeks, I'll show you The Force. You can write that down in your notebook.

And I promise you, you won't necessarily like it immediately.

It's gonna be tough love. And it will literally be Forced.

I'm willing to step on dreams to get what I want, what people and what the future wants.

It'll be my living testament to how raw power > social feelings.

This message brought to you by the power of BEER. Otherwise I wouldn't have given you a heads up. And no, don't bother asking ... I won't be explaining myself further. But things are going to be turned upside-down by the raw power of technology and if I ruin 5 Guys Pizza Quake, sue me!

The fun thing is giving the hint in the bowels of the dungeon that no one reads.

I have skimmed this post many times over. It is completely understandable that the claims being made by Baker are of such a magnitude in change, that it very well may take longer than the predefined 2 weeks time.

What change though? What magnitude? He alluded to "5 guys pizza" , and we are lucky enough to even have 5 guys, this is very true.

Anyone care to analyze the words above and speculate with me?

I clearly picked up on the multiplayer community "as is" represents "Five Guys Pizza" , that much was easily ascertained. Singleplayer / Coop can't be the emphasis of what he was hinting at,at least in my opinion.

Forced change? Literally forced? My largest question is this : How?

My speculative thoughts are all over the place here, the only thing I can think of is an entire overhaul of Quake1 multiplayer.

Could be what I want it to be is overriding my thought process, because when I think of Quake1 I don't think about shamblers or vores, or finding a stupid key card. I think about fps arena shooter / deatchmatch / team games / rocket jumping / hooking around a map/capturing a flag and returning it to base / gibs and more GIBS. I am positive I am biased about what defines Quake1, so I can't rely on what he means by "ruining 5 guys pizza".

But things are going to be turned upside-down by the raw power of technology and if I ruin 5 Guys Pizza Quake, sue me!
This is the most interesting thing hinted at in my opinion. I can not fathom what this statement is inclining. Can you?

That would be, EARLY ACCESS, and people use plain text to request a game's development. Then after years of this the game has 100 "members".

I agree, someone should make a game about starting and growing a community of gamers.

but then there's a few hundred titles that do everything quake does on a modern level, wich makes Quake moot, unless your just diggin old cds out of a yard sale.
I think the only way for "Quake 1: to go to gain any popularity today would be a sequel similar to how DOOM 4 is looking to turn out. It's kinda sad really.

I want games to get back to people using their imagination more and leave it up to the player to think of how everything went down instead of a set in stone "This is what happened" center piece to every line of dialog in games.

Games are getting to real in the story but forget about making game play less real and more about giving players freedom to do what they want to complete an objective.. Nowadays you get punished if you don't do things instep in most games.... (If you do this then we'll restart you at the last checkpoint. If you do that we'll restart you at the last check point). I'm referring to games like GTA, Assassins Creed, COD, and such... It's laziness.

People need a little hope... Maybe after the umpteenth time someone teases a plan for a magical revival of the game, it will actually happen. All thanks to hope.

Forced? Hmm. Baker is sounding more and more like Obama, always trying to force something down our throats.

I am interested in seeing what he has. Btw dont forget the pizza and beer when you come to the party baker.

I miss the RocketArena sparring matches he and I used to have.

Baker is mostly behind the scenes doing things now days for the bettering of the community.

I can't even begin to remember where "Baker the Quake player" ended and "Baker the guy who constantly is working on Quake 'stuff'" began.

My thumbs are bound to fall off from all the twiddling. Are you on the road? If not Let's play a team game, Jbone & Badaim are at dmtx right now.

that is where I am headed right now.
