  • Shambler and eyes

The Shambler has no eyes of any sort. Just a mouth covered in blood.
How does it follow the player/move around correctly?
    1- Its psychic?
    2- It has high sensitivity?
    3- Sees IR instead (Predator)?
    4- Sees some other wave?
    5- Pure luck?

I know theres a poll. Its only a question, with some hunches.

I really don't know any official lore... so perhaps by reasoning that the Shambler can cast magic (lightning), it also can detect creatures likewise.

it can hear your footsteps... yes, this means its hearing is far far superior to the player's...
and yet somehow it still can't hear around corners...

From the manual: "Shambler: Even other monsters fear him, so expect a clobbering. He shrugs off explosions. Good luck." - Nothing about eyes...

From the diary of Atticus Malitch:

              A shambolic demon
              born of vomited semen,
scrying arcs of blackish blue fire
              The devil's own beacon
              of virtue weakened
set waiting 'neath the archaic spire

Master Lovecraft, though, did touch the topic of the eyes, even though slightly: "Shuffling towards him in the darkness was the gigantic, blasphemous form of a thing not wholly ape and not wholly insect. Its hide hung loosely upon its frame, and its rugose, dead-eyed rudiment of a head swayed drunkenly from side to side. Its forepaws were xtended, with talons spread wide, and its whole body was taut with murderous malignity despite its utter lack of facial description" (The Horror in the Museum)
