Just curious, but given the vast experience of people like yourself / Baker / Spike / Seven in developing for Quake, if you were going to refresh Quake 1 with a modern engine what would you say is the best one to use ? and what language (C#, C++, etc)?...and why to both?

    Kind regards

Not even remotely close to a demo! Just a very short video of one corridor... It looks good but I'll need more content before I get hyped up.

This has been done in the Crysis engine and in Rage and in ...
Hell even in Doom 2016 they did in with snapmap already.

Do you guys know that the current Q1 engines are totally capable of doing such a "tech demo fly-by" clip as well ?

Such clips only want to tell: "Look what I have done. I am pretty cool, arent I ?"

Some remakes of old games in UE4 looks awesome (check Mario, Sonic, Tomb Raider, Zelda Ocarina of time) while doom 2 remake looks really awful

    Wow, just wow!
Now if only we could play Quake with this kind of quality without losing any of the fluidity, gameplay and versatility of Quake.

    Nice find BV

    Kind regards

    don get me worng.
I believe a quake 1 conversion to UE4 will be easy to done.

UE 4 is really awesome, i believe is possible to convert mdl models to psk with neosis, but you need to rewrite all the animations to psa format. I think they are using a part of the original map with custom textures and shaders.
anyway you would have problems with copyright using quake 1 models!
